Going to beat Oklahoma and Florida for the Michigan commit. Another Poly kid who played in the Poly Bowl. Pretty incredible

We that would suck but a great job by the coaches pulling him in for a visit at the 11th hour. Maybe he doesn’t get out of Tucson this weekend without having a change of heart

No but he did say they expect to sign one more. Can’t imagine it could be anyone else. I am surprised by this guy as I thought we were full but they always find room

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I would much rather have another OL.........we have much greater need for OL than edge rushers.

So does this mean we didn’t get the commitment we had hoped for, or is this one of those found hidden gems?

Preferred Walk On, so not using the last scholarship.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
6A state DPOY. Looked good on his tapes. Hard hitter with a nose for the ball. I assume his height set him back some. I bet he contributes on special teams

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I'll take all the good players we can get, especially as a walk-on, but I'm curious as to why he couldn't get a P5 offer if he has the talent to "easily play at the Power 5 level". Looks like he did get some sniffs from other school, but apparently didn't end up with a committable P5 offer.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I agree, but if you are not adding a instant starter any additional OL is not adding much. Outside QB there is no other position that has less positional rotation then OL.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Agree completely. The only place this recruiting class comes up somewhat short is on the offensive line. It was the one place we needed immediate help and we didn't get much. One of the 3 frosh might be able to contribute (Jonah Savaiinaea) and the Baylor transfer will be eligible (Divall). Thats pretty much it. The big JUCO kid had a bunch of FCS offers and appears to be a major prospect. Buford looks like he passes the eye test but has to sit out a year. Its not like we didn't try, we offered a number of transfers and JC kids but crapped out on all of them. We also lose our 2 best OLineman from last year (Laie and McCauley). I hope we can keep De Laura vertical for most of the year..........last years OL got two QB's knocked out for the season and another one severely banged up.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 12:30 pmI agree, but if you are not adding a instant starter any additional OL is not adding much. Brian Greene (transfer portal from WSU) is still available. I saw his list and we apparently haven't offered.........not sure why. He can play center or guard.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Once again, a much deserved congrats to the Wildcats staff for finalizing a fantastic signing class, especially after the rough season on the field.
Going back about 15 years into the Stoops era, when I first began following Arizona Football, I think this will be the FIRST time the Wildcats will finish ahead of Arizona State with the consensus higher rated signing class. Of course it helps that ASU will sign a historically bad recruiting class.

When all is said and done and everybody fills their classes, if we stay in the top 5 (conference) and top 30 (nation) I'll be ecstatic.

Pretty much spot on. Last years OLine was primarily responsible for the historically bad offensive season we had to endure. Yes we add Dival, Hand, Jean, Stovall, Savaiinaea, Borjon, and Reece, but considering our lack of depth and talent that isn't even close to cutting the mustard. Out of those guys only Savaiinaea and hopefully Divall really do anything for me. Reece was a low 3 star guy who appears to be a project and the same with Borjon. Hand, Jean, and Stovall are kind of wildcards who I hope can be good contributors right off the bat(doubt it). We can only hope for improvement from who we have at this point.
BTW what happened to OT Saia Mapakaitolo? Zonazealots said we bagged him in an article dated Jan 15th, 2022, yet not one other source has him committed. Dude looked like a pretty solid get.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Would love to know since Rivals doesn't have him on the commit or transfer list. Would definitely make me feel a bit better about the Offensive Line situation.MountainCat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 3:53 pmOh….Oops…. The mystery continues. Maybe Fisch gave him an under the table scholarship signed and sealed by Jim Click.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I am surprised no one has mentions this. Arizona just landed the #13 rated QB in the country, Brayden Dorman. He is from Colorado.
