Do they also get to select the final score of their games in advance?
Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I wouldn't be surprised if some team gets screwed royally by the refs against Duke to preserve their run
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
i know its new but in the updated format the top 8 get to fill out a request for their "preferred locations" and he picked Chicago for sentimental reason - Arizona wants no part of that whatsoeverEastCoastCat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 6:59 pm Do they also get to select the final score of their games in advance?

Something tells me he'll get his request even if nobody else can be accommodated.
And yes, to beat them will require pulling their souls out of their throats, stuffing them with gravel, and throwing them in the lake. Like we did to them last time. Aint nobody going to win a competitive game against them. Not on any ref's watch.

Call me crazy, but I just don't think Duke is all that scary this year. This is not one of the better teams K has had in the past decade.

5-on-8 in this year's tourney is what I would be afraid of.

Maybe we ought to request to the Selection Committee to go wherever Duke goes just for the hell of it.

I'm surprised they don't have Duke hosting themselves
Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I don't think this is at all accurate. They still show Kansas as a 1 seed after they just lost 2 in a row. Who knows. We will all know in a week.RondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 8:12 pm This is one of the most accurate brackets on bracket matrix rankings

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Auburn almost lost to Mississippi St yesterday, but they choked it away late and just got smoked in OT. They don't look like a #1 seed imo.
Kansas is technically tied with Baylor for first place and they beat Baylor earlier in the year. I'd have Kansas over Auburn/Kentucky at this point.

Anybody but Murray St in the round of 32. That team is a top 20 team and should be a 5 seed

If we're in the Midwest, there's a very strong possibility we get them.
If Baylor stays as a #1 seed, they'll be above us with 12 quad 1 wins currently and they'll get the South.
we have to hope Zags lose to get the West or else were stuck in the Midwest (Chicago).

Why specifically Midwest? 8 seeds do not get any kind of geographic preferenceRondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 8:17 amIf we're in the Midwest, there's a very strong possibility we get them.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Honestly, they're always placed there by the best ranked bracket makers (before Arizona being #1 in Midwest). Not hard to figure out why. The other 8 seeds are teams like Seton Hall, Boise St, TCU, Colorado St, etc
Even if they don't get any geographic preference, they always try to put to them in their closet regions to home.
Only thing I think will not have Murray St paired with Arizona is that the first two games would likely be played in San Diego now that Arizona is likely #1 in the Midwest.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Yes whatever region AZ is put in- you need to remember the Pod system... We will be playing in the West for our 1st 2 games
Re: Official Bracketology Thread
correct AZ 100% will be playing in SD ...so its unlikely the Racers will be there however ya just never know...and keep ilinois out of the Midwest and Tech out of AZ's bracket.

There's still a chance we get them. Seton Hall was always placed as an #8/#9 seed with Arizona when they were #1 in the south.Alieberman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 8:36 am Yes whatever region AZ is put in- you need to remember the Pod system... We will be playing in the West for our 1st 2 games

I think I'd rather see Murray State than Davidson. Murray State is a better team but if we get upset early I'd guess it's due to a prolific effort from three by our opponent.

The committee always underseeds some team and puts them on the 8-9 line. I am saying it now. Murray At gets to the 16

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Murray State has an incredible record, but...as we normally ask about mid-majors with insane records...who have they beaten? I actually think their most interesting outcome is a 13 point loss to Auburn. 13 points doesn't sound bad, but the reality is that Murray was never really in the game. Auburn was comfortably in control the whole way, pushing their lead past 20 in the 2nd half. Not sure how much to take from this outcome, but it's Murray's only game against a legit contender.pc in NM wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:23 pmIIRC, the #9 seeds have a winning record vs the #8 seeds...Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:07 pmAlright, I'm convinced. Also, their tallest (and best) player is KJ Williams. We have three guys to swarm him with, and it's hard for me to imagine him succeeding against a front line that stifled Kofi freaking Cockburn.

Imagine harder:Alieberman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 1:15 pmI can't imagine anyone wanting us in their Pod / region ..... Anywhere....
somebody on some message board somewhere probably wrote: Give me Arizona as our 1-seed. They're soft and can't shoot, so we can just pack the paint. They're overly aggressive on defense, going for the steal and the block instead of forcing you into a late-possession, low-percentage shot like their teams of old. Their best player, Mathurin, is too busy with his Tempe party life to bother to defend, so their elfen coach can't even keep him on the floor at the end of games.

The poster who would write that would think Miller is the coach

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
So I would take Murray State over TCU any day. TCU just beat two top ten teams last week. If you listen to the field of 68 with Arch and Sean they rave about Dixon as a coach and talk about what they have seen. A coach in college make a big difference.
Also Texas Tech is an incredible defensive team but they are not going to get hot and beat you on offense. You might win in the 50's but we would win.

Gonzaga's season was over last Saturday!? We play 4 more games than they did
Only chance we have as the West 1 seed is if we win out and they lose 1 more?

They do, and I would take SDSU playing at viejas (sp?) To win that one. Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

I think Baylor has pretty much clinched the #1 seed. They're now tied with Kansas for the conference regular season title and they have TWELVE quad 1 wins.
Hard to keep that out of the 1 seed line. They only have Iowa St at home, so a lock.
