I think you should put a “Mr.” or “Sir” in front of this thread title.

Or maybe just “Our Stud”

As awesome as those numbers are, they just can’t capture just how awesome his performance was! The second three was world class!! In the last quarter of the game, every time he got the ball on the perimeter, I was screaming “clear out!!!” at the TV!!

good post - the second three off the same paint to elbow screen action that worked first play coming out of the half was a bigtime next level shot.

Mathurin coulda had an and-one on that, the defensive player cant impede the shooters ability to land in their natural path.

he was undercut slightly on the way down and it very easily coulda been called, imo.

Benn is a lock for the lotto. Only question is how high he goes. I'd say top 7 for sure. Smith, Ivey and Holmgren are probably the first three picks, not sure about order.

But on the bright side extra motivation for Benn over the next 3 weeks.

BIG10 has nine teams in the tournament and three players on the first team and zero teams capable of making the Final Four - fascinating

Would like him to cut the 3 point attempts in half and attack the rim more. He's too athletic to settle for 30 footers.

Yeah. It irritates the shit out of me to see guys as athletic as Benn settle for low percentage shots. He's not a good enough 3 point shooter to take 10 in a game. It makes me wonder about his confidence in driving to the basket. He does get stripped at times, but more often, he gets into the lane without trouble. Takes a lot of floaters. If he doesn't get better at drawing contact and getting to the line, he's going to struggle at the next level.

I understand your first point, which is valid, but the part in bold is inane.

He made 4 of them, and he shot 38% for the year. That is as efficient as 57% inside the arc, 11th in the conference and best on the team among players averaging at least one made per game.

33mins - 18pts - 7-18fg - 4-10(3pt) - 0-0ft - 5rb - 0a - 0blk - 0st - 4to

expect a more complete game Sunday from Mathurin - thought his play today was way too loose and was reflected in zero assists, no free throw attempts, and four turnovers.

not his best

I guess I'd just ask whether anyone besides Kriisa should ever take 10 threes for us. I'm focused on Benn because he has rare quickness and athleticism. He's our slasher. DT has some slashing ability too. But when we're running weaves at the top of the key, trying to open up space and create scoring looks, Benn is our best dribble drive penetration option. He can get into the key against most teams, whenever he wants. When he shoots from inside the key, either on a floater or layup, those are always going to be higher % shots than threes. Plus he could get fouled. He's not getting to the line shooting 30 footers.

I feel like he forces shots at times.
Maybe a reaction today to being 2nd team instead of first?
Maybe trying to be too much of a force?
Tonight he also shot some fade-a- ways, he made them but they drive me crazy. He is too skilled to have to rely on those shots. It reminded me of Trier near the end of his time here. Trier seemed to not want to get to the basket late in his career at U of A.

I will say, he and AT put up way more points than it seems like.

Teams will continue to clog the lane against us and that effects his slashing ability.

And yesterday I thought that offensive foul in the first half and a couple of drives to the rim where he was physically stopped changed his approach.

But he did have a couple of sweet mid range pull up jumpers which I think he will need to use more.
