ya know ive never been a fan of feeding the post from the top of the key. however, i do like high low action between our two bigs in the flow of the offense. in Lloyds system the post likes to initiate action early off the high feed at the free throw line while the opposite big ducks under aggressively. teams are keying on it now and sitting back in the paint doubling the duck. early on yesterday the wright state player guarding the big at the top of the high low never intended to guard the point and baited the feed immediately digging back crowding the duck. later on backside help came as well. AZ didnt adjust and it was hard to watch. also, the way the tournament will be officiated the small change wont be called and in those 50/50 situations AZ must toughen up if that is the action. too many possessions given away by the early high low action. take it when its there and continue offense if not. again, i was never a fan of feeding the post from the top of the key.

Re: South Region Discussion
And yet, we rely fairly heavily on this.
We have a size advantage vs. TCU, but as others have pointed out, so did Seton Hall.
I really think the key stat tomorrow, unsurprisingly, is turnovers. If we keep this total around 10 for the game, we win. If it's too much higher than that, we're in trouble.

Watching a #1 go down, can only help with this teams preparation and focus, right?

Re: South Region Discussion
I wouldn't count on it. Lloyd's former team didn't start playing well till about the 10 minute mark in the 2nd half on Thursday. Georgia State probably had Zags fans sweating bullets.
Re: South Region Discussion
it cant hurt but the tournament just has that open feeling to me. tomorrow is the biggest game before the Final Four for AZ - i do believe if they can get past TCU they will make the F4 but the Horned Frogs in this spot concern me.

Re: South Region Discussion
Think that's how most of us are feeling.
Look...if we're not good enough to beat TCU with the season on the line, then maybe our expectations for the tourney were a tad inflated. We are better than the Horned Frogs and would beat them 6 times out of 10, maybe 7.
All that's been made of their defense and all the freaking out about our turnovers and unimpressive play yesterday...none of this changes that we have better players and have already beaten better teams than TCU this year.
It'll just depend on whether our guys are locked in for two full halves. Need to play mostly error-free basketball to advance in this tournament. Can't get down by a lot. Ask Baylor.
I'm also hoping the refs aren't a factor.
Alright, final prediction: AZ 85, TCU 80
Re: South Region Discussion
If the score is in the 80's, TCU has no shot because they aren't scoring 80 points on us

Tubelis doesn't get called for a foul on that block he likely continues going off and we put the round 1 game away early. Even without Kerr we're really, really good. The tournament is full of chance of course but we're positioned very well for a deep run.
We have to play better to reach our goals but we picked a good game to play our sloppiest. We'll get it fixed.
Worth keeping in mind that TCU actually is far more turnover prone than we are . Over the course of the season they've turned it over on 21.1% of their possessions as opposed to us doing so 17.8% of the time. We play swarming defense and we may just run them off the floor.
The odds of a #1 seed reaching the Final Four is 41.67%. Thats worse than a coin flip.
Anyone not concerned is either nuts or just drinking too early in the day.

Well if so then a coin flip isn't so bad, right? A coin flip odds to do something we haven't done in over 2 decades. I'll take those odds.

TCU is good, and I'm sure they feel they have a good handle on this matchup. However, CTL has seen this movie before, so he should be ready.
If the Cats commit to playing the outrageous defense they started the season with, we'll be fine.

I wish these reporters asked real questions, because of course teams are going to feel confident in March. Everyone left is coming off a win, and we all know crazy shit happens.
“The reality is that the hardest games to win are over teams on their home court. Teams that don’t play those games can spin it however they want, but what they’re saying is, ‘We don’t want to lose in our non conference season.’" - Sean Miller
Re: South Region Discussion
Look Seton hall looked like trash in the first half against TCU and it was still close. I think the key is starting off hot and making them doubt that they can match up to us. Both teams looked very shaky the first 8 minutes of the game last night. TCU wasn’t shooting many 3s and if that’s the case, I think we will be ok. Just need to take care of the ball and play the way we’ve played in big games.
Re: South Region Discussion
you create an advantage when you call them all all many didnt turn out like i "said they could" but this one did. Michigan busted Tennessee and the breaks continue for AZ.
must capitalize tomorrow and advance in the round of 32

I post here very seldom because I know so little about basketball. I watched the TCU game yesterday from some very good seats. I wish you guys who know more than me could've seen it live. TCU looks very physical and very, very fast. They played great defense and are definitely hungry. Hoping our guys are ready to bring it.

I had my clothes laid out for the day and I looked at the pair of socks I had put and said to myself, I think I wore those the day we lost to Colorado.
So I put them back and grabbed different ones!
