This is the downtown Tucson thread...
A report was generated on my post asking for politics not to be involved in this forum.
Is it political to think life is more valuable than property?
If it is, I'm happy to delete.
And if it is political to think that.... holy shit!!!!
I have so little understanding of what that "political" accusation has come to mean, I'm half suspicious the "Hey! That's political!" response is itself political, and intended to divert all actual discussion about life to a single, publicly unavailable board on this site that the accusers in turn accuse as being an echo chamber. Like a microcosm of how all non-hate normative discussion in this country gets shut down.
I bet for quite awhile they've been making the majority of their money off Nightfall (Halloween festival). With no potential for that this year they were done.
On Aug. 15, a member of the Facebook group "Christians Against Dinosaurs," which has more than 28,000 members, posted about asking people to call the McDonald's and have them take it down.
"Well, the simple truth is that there is no such thing as dinosaurs and there was never anything such as dinosaurs," said Norbert Lutoslawski, a member of the Facebook group.
"I would be willing to bet without even looking that homicide stats have risen since the dinosaur has been there... addiction rates, unemployment all types of negative energies," said Gerard James, another member of Christians Against Dinosaurs. "There is just no real proof for dinosaurs and we challenge anyone who will tell us we are wrong."
sigh
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
Stopped by the small Covid safe Tucson Meet Yourself today at the Mercado and got some Jamaican goat curry and a red chile fry bread taco. So fucking good. Kind of a weird setup since it is to go only but it felt nice because I haven't gone out anywhere in months.
La Chingada Cocina's food is incredible and they have great drinks. Reillys just reopened yesterday. Charro Del Rey for seafood. Portal or Owls club for a late night cocktail is a must. Borlderands is also great for beers and margaritas and live music at night.
Im hesitant to go downtown after dark on the weekends anymore. Just not the same since 3/4 of the best places closed.

I think La Cocina is closed (love that Place)
And we did decide on Charro Del Rey (never been and we don't really eat meat anymore.... so it sounds like a great cheat!)
And Jefe- "Portal"? Do you mean Penca? (That place is great)
La Cocina is now LaCo and has not reopened yet.
Portal is just under the bridge on 4th behind Hermanos. A lot of people don't know about it. Very unique drinks and the bar was built by Rob Paulus: https://archello.com/project/portal-cocktails
I would also check out Moonstone at the Graduate Hotel on campus. 15th floor bar/snacks with amazing views. Go there for a sunset

Wife and I are doing a downtown evening anniversary night very soon. Plan on getting dinner / bar hopping / hotel / and then brunch in the am.
I know we are having the brunch at The Cup but everything else is in the air. I still need to see what's still open and what's closed up.
Any suggestions?
Had an amazing anniversary - Downtown Tucson edition

Breakfast at The Nook
My daughter tried to take her husband to downtown Tucson for the first time last night and bailed out because of the crowds from this two night concert at the Rialto:
This is more my speed, love these 2 acts tomorrow night. Although I find "Vincent" a much better song than "American Pie", along with "On the Border" over "Year of the Cat" although all are good.

I may go see Patton Oswalt Sat night at the Rialto
People underestimate Bob at their peril. You'd better go.
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition …There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”
Is Oswalt back touring? He broke his leg and had to cancel a bunch of shows recently.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
My wife has fallen in love with The Monica downtown. She's visited 5 times in the past week. Taking ALL her friends. I enjoyed the vibe and food was solid.
