Benn - 31%
Dalen - 33%
Justin - 35%
Kerr - 36%
Larsson - 58%
Income players:
Ramey - 33%

Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
Our late splash with these transfers has completely changed the outlook for next season, imo. Our depth and scoring will be much better than I envisioned after BM, CK and DT went pro. I do think, though, it's harder to say what kind of defensive team we'll be. Ballo is an excellent rim protector, but we're losing three very good defensive players.

Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
Huge mistake imo
PGs who reclassify almost always look not ready for the college game. At least we have Ramey and hopefully Boswell does become a 3-4 year player.

Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
Massive news. I love this.
My expectation is that Boswell plays very little this season and treats this like an understudy year where he practices against Kerr and Ramey, learns Lloyd's terminology and attitude and expectations, and then comes into next season as a starter and just blows the doors off.
BUT - if there's an injury to Kerr or Ramey, or if one of them falters or hits foul trouble... we have Boswell. Huge insurance policy and floor raiser at a position where we are relatively thin at coming into this season.

Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
I think this pretty much means Ramey will only play as a CG/SG off ball unless Kerr fouls out late in a close game. He's definitely going to get playing time of Lloyd pushed him to reclassify or was ok with it.
PG:
Kerr
Boswell
SG:
Ramey
Larsson
SF:
Larsson
Bal
Henderson
Borovicanin
PF/C:
Ballo
Tubelis
Veesaar
Anderson
I'm thinking this pushes out Filip Borovicanin (who Lloyd said he thought was going to contribute immediately) out of the main rotation. Plus he's behind Bal who has a year on him in the system and a senior ahead of him and Larsson can play the 3 all day. This what I think the rotation will be.
1. Kerr
2. Ramey
3. Larsson
4. Tubelis
5. Ballo
6. Veesaar
7. Bal
8. Henderson

Let them compete. If a 17 year old Boswell earns a significant role then so be it. Same with Bal. IMO the best organizations are guided by meritocracy not seniority.YoDeFoe wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 7:01 pm Massive news. I love this.

Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
We all know Boswell is currently injured right? He had to cut his AAU career short back in May.
He's going to spend the rest of 2022 getting back to form - I don't see him winning a significant role this season unless, like I said, something happens with Kriisa or Ramey.
I assume Lloyd didn't pitch Boswell's family on significant PT on the court but rather the best PT (Physical Therapy) money doesn't have to buy as a scholarship athlete for the Arizona men's basketball team.

I saw this on Facebook first, and there's like a zillion posts about it, not one of them said what his name was. Not even the replies to posts asking what his name was - completely unresponsive.
I see this all the time. Some guy commits and you gotta read 400 posts and search all over the fucking place to find out the guys name. Its ridiculous. Can't they put his name into the announcement graphic image? Is that too hard for the fucking AD PR department?
Thank you RondaeShimmie for including tweets that show his name.
Anyway, welcome to Arizona Kylan! Have a great career!

Why are we actually bitching about landing a 5 star recruit? If he thinks he can play let’s see it.
The worst that can happen is he might make it to his junior year.

It's bittersweet to have him commit early - I mean, I'm stoked to have him but he's not committing just out of an excitement to join the team.IndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 4:35 amThis makes so much more sense now.YoDeFoe wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 7:32 pm We all know Boswell is currently injured right? Dude has been playing injured, had to back out of the AAU circuit midseason and end his AAU career early, and ultimately decided that he would be better off forgoing his senior year of high school and everything that comes with it in order to better rehab at Arizona. It's a business decision and that's a lot to ask out of a kid who just finished his junior year of high school.
That said: what an impactful business decision for him. From the medical care side with elite rehab, treatment, and conditioning... to the basketball side where he can get up to speed on Lloyd's terminology and expectations and just how to be a pro at Arizona - without any of the "BE A STAR RIGHT NOW" expectations. This is a sacrifice for Boswell but he's been making them for his basketball career for years already.

Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
Increasingly, I've been convinced that Boswell wasn't really needed in 2022-23, given our improved guard depth via transfers. But the physical therapy thing makes a lot of sense.
Boswell is a heck of a player, and I just hope we get him healthy for at least one full season in Tucson.

Yeah I think the media is doing it again haha - I'm fine starting at 15 but Arizona is going to be very very good, better than the team is getting credit for in these preseason polls.

I love the versatility and depth of our roster. I'm still not seeing that elite slasher/finisher on the roster, like Benn, but otherwise, we're pretty stacked.
Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
Awesome news he's coming early and rehabbing with Rounds. Prob not redshirting him? What was the injury?
Either way he's the youngest player in D1. Maybe ever? He wont be 18 until April 2023

IDK - Arenas was 17 when he showed up here, but turned 18 during the regular season, not after it I believe.

Torvik's system inherently automates a ton of roster construction - he doesn't manually make additions or adjustments, it's just too much data to manage. So you can get some "bad data in, bad data out" misses. Last season we didn't have Kim Aiken in the "rostercast" (the preseason projection) because he (re)committed too late and missed the last update.
Most importantly - the system uses Verbal Commits as its data source for who is on a roster and how incoming freshmen or JC transfers are ranked (anyone without an NCAA history to project off of). Here is what ours looks like right now:
https://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/arizona
Boswell hasn't pulled through from here to Torvik, but there's a more interesting wrinkle: Notice anything weird about Boro and Veesaar? They're both listed as two star recruits. Of course Veesaar is a high four star and Boro is a top 100 four star, but because ESPN and Rivals don't do international rankings those guys don't get credit in the Verbal Commits composite... which means their projection is a big fat zero (literally, walk-on status) within Torvik's projection.
So yeah - it is what it is. The upside is we're forecasted at 14th without the benefit of Boswell, Veesaar, and Boro who are massive additions to our roster.

The latest look at the Arizona Basketball roster for 2022-23
by Eric Townsend 1 minute ago
And with the Arizona Basketball roster likely done adding pieces at this point, we provide an updated look at Arizona’s possible starters/rotation for next season.
Starters (based on who’s currently on the roster)
Point Guard – Kerr Kriisa
Shooting Guard – Courtney Ramey
Small Forward – Pelle Larsson
Power Forward – Azuolas Tubelis
Center – Oumar Ballo
Bench (based on who’s currently on the roster)
Guard/Forward – Cedric Henderson Jr.
Guard – Adama Bal
Guard – Kylan Boswell
Forward/Center – Henri Veesaar
Guard/Forward – Filip Borovicanin
Forward/Center – Dylan Anderson
Now, again this rotation is purely a guess on our end and does not necessarily mean this is what Tommy Lloyd will go with, after all, Pelle could easily come off the bench and Cedric could get the start in his place.
Either way, the roster looks a lot better now than it did two months ago, and this team could still very well contend for a conference championship with the pieces that they have added. There is a lot to be excited about this coming season.

Should we do the minutes thing?
Thoughts? I think Boswell plays less and I'd like to see Boro play some (just tough to get everyone their due). Maybe they split those 10/min/g.

Coach K and his tentacles will forever be entrenched in what and who Duke Basketball is...when Lute Olson retired AZ was forbidden to visit 'The Pit' for many years due to Lute vowing never to play a true road game against the Lobos ever again.
make no mistake, the Duke and Kansas backlash was 100% cause Sean Miller was the head coach at Arizona.

Coach Krysantowkioski wouldnt play a true road game against anyone, you are right about that - but he wouldnt ever schedule a neutral game vs Arizona, not even in Chicago or Kansas City or MSG cause, you guessed it, Sean Miller was the head coach at Arizona.
Arizona asked. Arizona offered. Duke declined again and again and again and AZ simply stopped asking.

I recall one time that when Ryan Hansen (no relation to Greg or Ben) was doing the basketball scheduling, he said that Duke offered the UA a 2 and 1, with the 2 in Durham and the 1 being in Anaheim. Like Lute saying he would never play in the Pit again, K said the same thing about McKale
Pretty sure Hansen was being facetious, but you never know.

Skip to about 5:00 in and you'll see where Koubek hits a 3 (wayyyy behind the line) that is only credited as a 2. That's why Duke cancelled that series. The PAC-10 even officially apologized later.

Guess the refs were all watching the Dukie flop under the basket.
Re: The 2022-2023 Season Thread
Maybe it has to do with Arizona being one of the only teams to have a winning record against Duke. As for Sean he gave Duke a true ass kicking on a magical night. Duke never had to play a true road game because they were always highly ranked out the gate so winning a big game on an opponents floor meant little.
