Arizona isn't going to win a national championship again or even make a final four by buying one and dones.
Look the international guy we have visiting for the Red/Blue is 100000000x the player and prospect fucking Bronny James is. I'll live with landing guys like that as opposed to pursuing a recruiting circus to get "our name out there" as if Arizona has a brand recognition issue.

I’ll live with it too because great players get teams great results. But it’s shortsighted to think that Arizona won’t eventually have a branding issue if high profile American recruits aren’t listing us as one of the programs they are interested in.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 7:30 amYeah...money.CardiacCats97 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 7:05 amThen it’s going to appear like schools like Oregon, UCLA, and USC have something to offer high profile recruits that Arizona does not which is something I don’t think I want to get used to.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 6:35 am We're not going to be involved in recruitments that we don't think we can win. Really, I’m just salty that USC is being mentioned and we aren’t. We SHOULD be the top flight PAC-10/12 program that every kid wants to play for. But Lebron James’s kid has us in the same tier as ASU and Cal.

Also UCLA/USC aren't Pac10/12 schools any more and their recruiting strategies of offering 100 guys is different than our strategy of offering guys we actually like, think fit the system, and feel confident that we could land. Finishing 5th place in Bronny James's recruitment does less than dick for Arizona's brand recognition man.
Look we're going to land an American 5 star wing in 2024 and a high end PG to go along with him. That's at the very least. We're doing just fine, calm down.

Arizona turned down better 4 men for O'Neal at that time. Good comparison, but I do think Bronny will have more of an impact as a freshman than Shareef has had in his entire college career. Shareef had some bad luck health-wise, of course.Merkin wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 8:44 amReminds of the Shareef O'Neal recruitment, Sure didn't seem to help anyone.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 6:17 am

So you’ve met him and his family? Interesting.
Please note, my complaint is that Oregon, UCLA, and USC are being mentioned in his recruitment and Arizona is not. Not that he’s not coming here. What I want is for other players who are a better fit to notice that a high profile recruit is considering Arizona.

No read on Cody. The fact he hasn’t announced an official visit with us is puzzling to say the least. My guess is based on how unique this recruitment is is he ends up at LSU because their coach was the “first to believe in him.” It’s absolutely one of those types of recruitments.arizonawildcats wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 3:47 pmCarter Bryant and Dedan Thomas? This could be a good barometer, then, of how Tommy is doing with recruits from our region. CODY WILLIAMS, SF, GILBERT (AZ) PERRY
Overall rank: No. 21
Recruitment: Arizona, Colorado, LSU, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara and USC.
Latest buzz: After canceling a planned visit to UCLA and moving his Arizona visit up by a week, the visit process is now over for Cody Williams. A long and rangy wing who can handle the ball, he shows promise as a jump shooter and has tremendous fluidity to his game at 6-foot-8, Williams has as much upside as anybody in the country.
His older brother Jalen Williams was able to develop into a Lottery pick at Santa Clara but it doesn’t look like he’ll follow in those footsteps and as good a job as Loyola Marymount has done recruiting him, it’s hard to see him going to a rival program of Santa Clara. Williams hasn’t set an actual commitment time just yet and we aren’t expecting any list cut, but the feeling is that he’s getting really close to making up his mind and that Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats have put themselves into excellent position with Colorado and LSU trying to hold onto some hope.

Re: Let's talk '23
High school superstar Mikey Williams was in action over in the weekend in Las Vegas at the Border League. On Saturday morning, the Top-25 recruit finished with 31 points, 13 assists, and seven rebounds in the win. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has returned to his old high school, San Ysirdro in San Diego, Calif. for his senior year. It’s where he played his freshman season before stops at Lake Norman Christian and Vertical Academy in North Carolina.
“It feels good being back home,” Williams said. “It’s a home environment. Coach is like family so the bond is there. I feel comfortable.”
Williams ranks as the No. 22 overall prospect in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Consensus — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the No. 4 overall combo guard in the country.
Mikey confirms he’s going to college
For quite some time, rumors and speculation suggested Mikey would not be going to college and instead, opt for the professional route, whether that’s with Overtime Elite, the G-League Ignite, or a team overseas. However, recently, he’s shut down those pro rumors completely.
“College,” Williams said confidently when asked what’s next. “I don’t have a list or anything yet, but definitely college.”
His reasoning for wanting to go to college is simple.
“The experience, the atmosphere, and March Madness,” he says. “The lights are very bright. That’s what I like, being in those type of environments.
Kansas is the only known school to host Williams on an official visit. Despite landing three guards in the class (Elmarko Jackson, Chris Johnson, Jamari McDowell), Mikey says the Jayhawks are still involved in his recruitment.
“They win and I like the way they play,” Williams said of the 2022 National Champs. “Bill Self is a great coach and they have a great coaching staff. Every hooper wants to be in an environment like that.”
Mikey is keeping his recruitment close to the vest. While he wouldn’t name any other specific schools involved in his recruitment, he did list a few conferences.
“Some schools in the Pac-12, ACC, Big 12. I don’t really want to speak on anything specifically.”
He did confirm that he does not have any college visits currently scheduled and plans to make a college decision in the near future.
“A decision is coming soon, but I’m still open (to other schools). I can’t wait too late to make the decision.”
Before making a decision, Mikey has a few things he’s looking for in a college.
“Somewhere that I can get better,” he says. “Somewhere where I fit into what they’re doing. I want the coaches to push me. I just want to get to the League, that’s the ultimate goal.”
Williams holds reported offers from Kansas, USC, Oregon, Tennessee, Arkansas, UCLA, Arizona, and others.

Mookie Cook. Maybe Tommy didn't want him(we are on his list) but he had some top level offers and is a 5 star recruit from ChandlerChooChooCat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:49 am2 best? Who's the other?

need Darlan now imoChooChooCat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 9:18 am Yeah...Lloyd didn't stick the landing with this class, at least domestically.
feels like these domestic recruitments of top tier talent are typically more more competitive and difficult than international recruitments. this program moving forward is going to be more international-based than most would like, including Tommy, but nobody should have a real issue with it as long as we’re winning games

Mookie isn't an Arizona kid. He's an Oregon kid that is currently going to a prep school in Arizona.84Cat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 12:56 pmMookie Cook. Isn’t this more or less what it boils down to at the moment? If a guy (from AZ) has a chance to start next year at AZ or LSU, it has to mean the latter made a better “offer.” No knock on LSU, but it ain’t Arizona.
