Louisville isn’t looking so great.
Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
Give my left nut for the cats to play a game on that aircraft carrier. Zags vs Michigan St right now. 1 point game with 6 minutes to go
Waiting at the Rose Bowl patiently for the cats to arrive

Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
I’m not a fan. On television it looks terrible (they looked like they were playing on the sun for a while) and I am worried they haven’t totally figured out the court moisture issue. Last thing we want is for any of our players to go down on a slick court.
Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
No doubt! One team had the sun in their eyes during the first half. Shooting 3's looked very difficult with the sun and possible breeze.
Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
Gonzaga lost badly to Texas 74-93. Really thought that would be closer.

Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
Xavier beating Indiana on Fox. Typical Miller coached team!
Xavier up by 2 at half(40-38) and Millers team looks like they are in mid season form. Given how Gonzaga likes to play and when I look back at that NCAA game where we beat them 84-61, I just shake my head about how good that team was defensively

Something is seriously wrong with me. I want Illinois to beat Virginia.

Just flipped on the Maui Invite and Louisville is 0-4 and down by 30 to Texas Tech - what is going on with Louisville these days?!?!
Edit: Louisville loses 70-38, their lowest scoring output since 1981

They clearly need to play Cal so we can see which one is the truly terrible team.

Our win against SDSU is looking really good right now. They're up on Arkansas 35-26 at the half.

Huge choke by SDSU, and especially Lamont Butler end of game.

SDSU needs to man up and rebound. Allowing an opponent four shots in a row in OT is inexcusable.
Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
Wow how did Bradly miss that?
SDSU should feel very bad for letting this game slip away.

Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
I'm gonna have to watch that game ..... couldn't at the time, but checked the score occasionally and said to Mrs. Dove the refs will make this close at the end. There's no way to keep the refs in the cone of silence, unaware of the line, so we'll always have them to hate on, but man, it seems they really put their stamp on this tourney. Then this one will be fun to savor because it could have easily been the Cats that got screwed:

Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
I'm getting old so my memory isn't what it used to be but I can't recall a game where a team only got called for 2 fouls in a half. Pretty funny that it screwed them in the end because they couldn't put us on the line

I was complaining the entire second half right up until it bit Creighton in the ass the last 20 seconds.

Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
So the same thing happened a few years ago when duke played MSU in the elite 8 or sweet 16, the refs were calling everything on MSU and Duke had 2 or 3 fouls with like less than a minute left and they wasted about 20 seconds trying to send MSU to the line. That was the Zion Williamson year.
I was laughing so hard, the refs totally screwed Duke in the end by not calling anything on them the whole second half.
It was fantastic.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Gonzaga just lost, so at the very least 6 is up for grabs...
Xavier/Gonzaga should be a good game Sunday.

Not sure where to put this, but, we are never getting invited to any of the Phil knight tourneys are we. Since Oregon always goes and OSU and that would be too many Pac 12 schools.
Just curious.

It sucks for Oregon when you can't win your own tournament
Re: 2022-23 non PAC-12 games
If Phil Knight wants a Pac school to win he knows who to call.

Wouldn't it be sweet if Houston stubbed its toe today?

I think we'll be ranked #4 or #5 on Monday. Unless the pollsters are too much in love with Kansas and UNC to drop them out of the top 5.
Should be Houston, UVA, Texas, Arizona, Kansas.
Btw, crazy that Houston is going to be #1 on Monday. I didn't give them the respect they deserved last season, until they knocked us out of the tourney. Sampson deserves a lot of credit.

Kent State had an opportunity to take the lead with 34 seconds left but refs swallowed the whistle on an obvious foul. #2 Houston escapes at home.

Texas, Houston, UVA, UNC, zona, kansas. That's my guess, I do Not think UNC should be ranked above us. I do not think that, do Not!!

If UNC beats Bama today, they'd have a decent claim to a top 5 spot. Same goes for Duke vs. Purdue.U.P. Zona Fan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 7:36 pm Texas, Houston, UVA, UNC, zona, kansas. That's my guess, I do Not think UNC should be ranked above us. I do not think that, do Not!!

Now I'm wondering about Purdue. They're undefeated with wins over Duke and Gonzaga. That's better than our resume.
Top 5 is gonna be interesting tomorrow.

Down goes Duke!
Would love a chance to play Purdue. Not sure they'd jump from 24 all the way to top 5 though.

It depends on if you buy that Duke was a top 10 team. If you don't, there are a few.
4 garbage games, (sorry Huggs) and Duke and Gonzaga, both of which have 2 losses now.
We have a better resume.

Trying to be as objective as possible, but I just think Purdue’s wins are better than ours. Still, it’s close. I won’t be the least bit surprised if the AP puts us at like 7 or something.

Creigton is going to be ranked higher than Gonzaga or Duke. And a better team. That is a bigger win. That being said rankings don't mean much right now other than bragging rights.

Gonzaga vs Xavier is ugly basketball. Miller's strategy is mostly effective, but it was rarely fun to watch.

What I take away from Gonzaga is they aren't a smart team. The Cats are smarter than the Zags. Gonzaga is a borderline top 10 team, at least right now.
