Scheer is saying the IARP ruling is coming today.
Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved
Well national people had it way before he said it but yes it is happening
Remember what the actual allegations are. Most people don't seem to know on Twitter

Am I wrong to dread we will get screwed compared to the last few teams that got slaps on the wrist?

It’s right to dread Arizona getting screwed over mightily. Anyone remember when recruits at an offseason camp got a slice of pizza and a coke and the NCAA practically threw the book at us?EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 8:42 am Am I wrong to dread we will get screwed compared to the last few teams that got slaps on the wrist?

Remember this?
July 2010: The NCAA ordered Arizona to vacate 19 victories from the 2007-08 season, and reduced scholarship numbers and recruiting visits for illegal participation in an all-star camp, the Cactus Classic, in 2007. Coach Lute Olson allowed Jim Storey, then the owner of the website GoAZCats.com, to speak to the UA booster club four times, which raised about $195,000 for the showcase. The NCAA said Olson “failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance.’’
The UA media guide lists Arizona’s record from the 2007-08 season as 0-14.

Hope to god I’m wrong.

Hahahahahahahaha
The IARP has said they do not think it is right to punish players who had nothing to do with the allegations
Amazing how much bad info there is out there
Even Scheer joking about the ncaa waiting until tip off of the Tennessee game is bad info

It’s not “bad info”. You just don’t seem to know what tongue-in-cheek means.

No, unfortunately you are not.EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 8:42 am Am I wrong to dread we will get screwed compared to the last few teams that got slaps on the wrist?
Given the penalties already meted out (and the UA's proactive approach to the whole mess) we should get no more than a slap on the wrist.
We were, however, the Poster Child for the entire scandal........so keep dreading.

After all this ...... ESPN still needs to be dragged through the streets of America and skullfucked into a Frisbee-shaped piece of roadkill.

We've suffered enough. The ones that committed the biggest infractions, Book and Phelps got the biggest punishments. The fine and scholarship restrictions are minor. Time to close the book on this scandal (no pun intended) and move forward. Bear Down.

Double edged sword for CSM.
Yes, it helped us now but it also led to our Prez/AD to drop him like a rock.

Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved
Given the final outcome in the case it will be interesting to see if Miller files a lawsuit against ESPN and/or the UA
Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved
I don't think Miller has any case against Arizona. There was no breach of contract and we paid him in full to terminate him.
As for ESPN, Miller could sue, but it would only bring up the muck. Why would Miller want to do that? He's rebuilding Xavier, and that's where he'll likely want to keep his primary focus. Besides, with today's ruling, Miller's name is clear, he's back home in Cincy, and I for one, hope he finally gets to a Final Four...as long as Arizona isn't his Elite 8 opponent.

Oh, except the decade we got dragged through the mud and made the poster program for amateur sports corruption.

I kind of want him to take on ESPN. Made baseless claims and he could argue that it ruined his reputation and career. Prevented him from getting another job, etc. etc. ESPN deserves to burn for how they handled that.AzCatFan2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:26 amI don't think Miller has any case against Arizona. Forget suing ESPN. Sue the individual(s) who made up this story for their benefit and pushed for the immediate firing of Miller

True go after Schlabach...but it'd be more fun taking on the entire organization. They bashed on us every opportunity they could. It was a shocker to hear Bilas say good things about us during MauiMountainCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 11:00 am Forget suing ESPN. Vitale will call it a travesty of justice a day after telling everyone to hold off judging Chris Beard and then he’ll cut a commercial for a reverse mortgage company. A full day in the Land of Dick.

If your "side" has the support of mainstream media, the entertainment industry, globalist corporations, big Pharma, tech companies and the elite, you are NOT part of the resistance
Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved
unfortunately, Sean Miller and Arizona have to work with ESPN as a business partner, and they know this, so nothing further will happen.dovecanyoncat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:58 am After all this ...... Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved
I'm glad it's over, more than anything else.
I expect it will barely be a blip on the current sports news front. I doubt anyone from ESPN will express any regrets - the most likely spin I'd expect from Vitale/Bilas would be that they'd claim they were reacting in real time to what was known and published at the time - there will not be any reflection on the fact that either/both could haave consciously amended their positions as the "news" evolved...
As for Schlabach, he's so insignificant, that he'll just be swept under the rug!! Fuck him!!!
I did and do note that "No mention of interference by Dave Heeke or Bobby Robbins as NCAA had alleged." - IMNSHO, that should be recognized/acknowledged by everyone here also, in the spirit of reconciliation.
It's history. I'm concentrating on the current season, coaches and players!!! I'll be happily supporting CSM and his adventures @ Xavier, too!!
BTFD!!!!

Absolute Bullshit
5 years of "justice delayed is justice denied." The FBI did their distract and deflect finger-pointing at us (which always means four fingers point back at the initiator, which is particularly apt), and Schlabach, Bilas, and Vitale shot their big mouths off. So the ESPN weasels' reactions will be: 1.) "It's old news" and 2.) "Hey, it was a one-year post-season ban, even if self-imposed, so we were right." Only it's a question of degree and severity and character assassination. Like a lot of people, I like Tommy Lloyd's style better than Sean Miller's, but we still shouldn't have been strong-armed into making that move. That said, close the book; time to move on.

Good for Sean, hope he rolls that IARP report up and shoves it up Bilas, Dickie V, schlabach, .....
their ears. Or other appropriate orifice.
Mostly, I hope he is at peace and happy.
I will always appreciate him and cheer for him.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Miller never sold Arizona short and he said the truth. He never paid Ayton a dime and only Kansas paid him any money. This was a case of a rogue actor (Book) who wanted to line his own pockets at the expense of a friend and our school. So fuck Book too.

One of my favorite things is schooling people who think Miller and Arizona were proven to have paid players. You could just say “show me the evidence” but it’s so sweet seeing their faces fall when you lay out everything and punctuate it with a “so FUCK Mark Schlabach and anyone else who says there’s proof we did ANYTHING remotely close to what they accused us of.”

Big Mouth Just Doubles Down, Naturally
He's just a loudmouth from New Jersey. Kind of like the old SNL Joe Piscopo bit about the loud "I'm from Jersey" guy. He built one small-time college team once, completely flopped in a short stint the NBA, and then bailed to ESPN because it was all too stressful for him. It doesn't matter if he's had any personal tragedies in his life, or if he's done something good for the V Foundation or anybody else. If you live long enough, most people have some tragedies and do some good things. But, when you stick your nose into things you know nothing about and cause people distress, and then refuse to admit you could possibly ever be mistaken, you deserve criticism. He's 80, he's over-ripe, it's over, and it's time for him to bow out of public life.
Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved
"The record is really replete in terms of the actions the former coach took to ensure his staff and players understood the importance of compliance," Welch said on a Zoom call after the IARP's ruling on Wednesday. "Nearly all of the actions these two assistant coaches took were covert. ... With respect to [Richardson], they were criminal. In our view, these kinds of actions could not have been detected by the head coach."
Pieces of shit that caused a coach to lose his job, public embarrassment, and having to face his family and boys after this unfounded charge. They need to look in the mirror and what they reported was Sean was heard on an FBI wiretap talking about payments to DA. All made up bullshit.
