Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen is preparing to fulfill his military mandatory service in Finland during the offseason, he told ESPN. The Nordic nation requires all of its male citizens to complete such service before turning 30.
"It's mandatory, we have to do it, but at the same time we take pride in it, too," said Markkanen, who turns 26 in May. "I think it sets an example to serve. And I'm confident I can do it in a way that it's not going to affect my preparation for next season, either."
With the Jazz likely to miss out on the NBA Play-In Tournament, Markkanen will report for basic training in Helsinki on April 17. Markkanen will be attending the Finnish Defence Forces' Sports School, which provides training for "reconnaissance squads for emergency and wartime conditions." Per the Defence Forces, "the length of the conscripts' service period will be determined after the basic training phase, according to wartime-unit training obligations."
Markkanen originally planned to fulfill his obligation while he was in college at the University of Arizona, but he instead made commitments to the Finnish national team that summer. He plans to take care of the required service were again put on hold last summer because the Cleveland Cavaliers reached the play-in stage.

1day/year contract as roster filler. Blazers had 10(!) people out with injuries. Averaged 13p/8r/1.4a/1.6b per 22 minutes with Stockton's G-League franchise.

Ayton is unfortunately really bad right now, has been for a while. Hate saying about a former Cat but he's ass.
I can't believe it. But should've seen it coming when in HS he started dropping in the rankings from #1 player because he was lazy and took plays off. Guys like Bagley, Porter, and even Bamba were passing him.
Any effort and care seem to have gone when he finally got his contract. Such a disappointing career he'll have. Right now he's getting clowned left and right from the national media, and rightfully so.

Aaron Gordon is by far the best Wildcat in the Denver/Phoenix series
Re: Former Cats in the NBA
And all Lute Olson era players are official retired. Hard to believe this day has finally arrived.

Last time I checked, Steve Kerr was not yet retired.

I don't really count coaching as it's very different from playing the game.

That team was loaded with college talent. Green, Mannion, Akinjo, Nnaji, Brown, Doutrive, Baker, Williams, Koloko. Too bad they didn't get a chance to grow and make some noise togeather.

Courtney Ramey was going to play in summer league but signed with a German club instead. Also hope Koloko will be okay.

AG is hanging out in Serbia.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

I enjoyed the documentary, but I wonder who made the call (unless I missed it as I watched it around midnight) to never mention UofA, while other player’s colleges were featured. Instead, Gabe’s amateur history seemed limited to his popular HS mixtape. I hope this was a production decision and not at Gabe’s insistence. The mercurial twists of fate dealt to these guys makes me appreciate the G League even more now. Portland is finally getting a team in the league. Looking forward to going to see some games.

He might have read a critical comment from a practice game on these boards. Yeahbut he sorta disappeared in overtime and the Kiwi's went on to win it. But he played 44 frantic minutes, he was entitled to be gassed.
But yeah, it was an amazing game, one of the best of the tournament so far, and Rondae performance is a candidate for MVP of the group stage in my mind.

Re: Former Cats in the NBA
How did Rondae end up playing for Jordan? His current club is in Puerto Rico.
I could see that if he was playing in Jordan, he might take out citizenship to qualify as a 'non-foreign' player in the league there, but he's in Puerto Rico.
What gives?
