Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
Anyone have a clue about playing time or expectations of the Euro guys?
My thoughts for now:
G- Bradley- 25 min
G- Boswell- 25 min
W- Pelle- 25 min
F- Johnson- 20 min
C- Ballo- 20 min
That leaves 45 minutes for Guard/Wing
And 40 for forward or bigs.
Lewis- 15-20 min
Murauskas-15-20 min
Transfer guard- 10-15 min
Krivas- ?
Veesaar- ?
Borovicanin- ?
Anderson- ?

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
Ballo and Pelle averaged 27 minutes last year so not sure why that would decrease. If anything they will average close to 30.
Boswell should make the biggest jump - probably close to 30 as well.
Those 3 guys are probably your biggest lock in terms of mpg. After that, it all depends how well the new guys play/assimilate within CTL's system. Veesaar averaged 7 mpg last year - will he also make a jump?
The real question is how deep will our rotation be? Last year, it was 7. This year I think it will be more like 8-9.

I think there is a likelihood that our defense is worlds better with Johnson on the floor. If so I think he gets tons of minutes. Tommy's teams will score the ball. Defend and special things can happen.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
So if we ACTUALLY land Caleb Love..we are rolling out a roster of:
Jaden Bradley (5 Star)
Caleb Love (5 Star, Final Four)
Pelle Larsson (NBA potential)
Keshad Johnson (Final Four)
Oumar Ballo (BEAST)
Bench:
Kylan Boswell (5 Star)
KJ Lewis (bully)
Murauskas (shooter with size)
Veesaar/Krivas (relief for Ballo when we don’t want to go small)
I will be VERY excited for this year. That’s a better roster overall than last year when we got a 2 seed.

I don’t think Boswell will be coming off the bench. This is likely to be his team to run. My guess would be that Bradley comes off the bench, but still logs 25 minutes per game.IndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 5:27 am So if we ACTUALLY land Caleb Love..we are rolling out a roster of:

We should know by now that "starting" means jack shit in CTL's system so there shouldn't be any concern around that moniker.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
I doubt Bradley transferred to come off the bench. And just because I think Boswell comes off the bench, doesn’t mean I think less of him. I think out of the 3 main guards, Bam Bam gets the most minutes for the season.
Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
Pelle could still be 6th man depending on who we play
Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
I think next years team will be light years better defensively then anything we have seen under Lloyd.

I hope so but not how many minutes is PM going to get?RaisingArizona wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 8:14 amPaulius Murauskas is about as deadeye as it gets supposedly. Boswell can really shoot it as well. Still could use more though.
We have no clue right now. But if we add love, that means far less minutes available.

I was perfectly okay with next season being a rebuild, with some great prospects for 2024-25. This is unexpected and seemingly unprecedented. I do remember Miller pulled some late recruits here and there, but to go from this...EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 1:40 pm We are Arizona.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
The key to this all, both portal and HS recruiting, is that we play an exciting and winning style of basketball. Quite frankly I was shocked at all the doomsayers on here when we had one of the best products to sell. Who wouldn't want to play this style of basketball?
Now some of the players give me pause on how they will mesh together but that is why coaches get paid so much money. I think we will sub out 3 players at a time and lose no efficiency and have fresh bodies on the court at all times. I also think everyone is selling our Litho forward short. That guy is going to be really good after he adjusts to the speed of the game and the different rules. I think he plays a significant role in the second half of the year.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
Oumar will get a lot more touches with Zu gone. And he has a lot of guys who can get him the ball now. He will be a conference POY candidate if he comes back healthy from the broken hand and stomach issue.
Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
I think the addition of a few of these players fix the problem of taking the ball to the hoop. I think when our guards penetrate it will open Ballo/Pelle for easier buckets. I am most excited about our Lith forward because I think his shooting may help stretch the floor and give some room to drive the ball for easy baskets.
We have no idea how these guys will blend but if coach TL put them together he owns the result. It will be a rocky start but I think we will be a team to watch in the second half of the year. Good luck to them all reaching their dreams.

Not that I care, but Stadium doesn't even have us ranked in the top 25? And CU at 16?
