Can’t imagine us playing any worse than we did last night. Hoping we come out with resolve and get the bats going

Yesterday, we're throwing BP to TCU. Tonight, can't find the strike zone. Fire Lawn.

Re: 2023 Season Thread
The pitching just leaks runs this season.
Re: 2023 Season Thread
Can't consistently throw strikes. And now can't play D. Hard to win games when you need to score 10+ every game because you give up runs like they are going out of style. Must put a ton of pressure on our guys at the plate.

Re: 2023 Season Thread
At least the rain delay means we weren’t the first team bounced from the tourney.
Re: 2023 Season Thread
The committee have us a second chance. And we poop the bed giving up over 20 runs in 2 days. Just horrid pitching. Proves we didn't deserve a bid. We didn't have the arms to win one game, let alone a national championship. Fire Lawn.
Re: 2023 Season Thread
So I guess we chose the embarrassment option, showing we never deserved a bid.
Wish we could fire Hale as well, but I guess we'll have to settle for more terrible baseball with a new pitching coach next year.

Re: 2023 Season Thread
I think Hale got the volleyball team a really good player for next year.

The writing was on the wall for Lawn. Wish him nothing but the best in his days ahead, but it is time to get some new blood and a new pitching coach.

Re: 2023 Season Thread
That's a good start. But, I look at our roster, and it looks like we'll be wiped out and almost starting over, unless there's a sudden unexpected influx from the transfer portal. In two years under Hale, we went 2-0 in terms of making the NCAAs, but obviously this year involved a lot of luck. His post-season record is 2-4, which includes a win over Cansius last year, and this year's loss to Santa Clara. The win of note was knocking Miami out on their home field, which was great. But we never got to celebrate much as we were then immediately knocked out ourselves. So we've just experienced the "peak", and now it looks like the beginning of a rebuilding cycle. I assume most of the better draft-eligible juniors are gone, along with top recruit RHP Blake Wolters. Maybe he can patch something together, and maybe Vance is a genius, but it doesn't look like we'll be at the same level as this year, which was a clear disappointment. Hale needs to really rev-up his recruiting into an intense year-round activity and (I think) focus on JCs and transfers. The days of "Jerry's Kids" coming in as freshmen, enduring 3 tough years as they grow up, and then having a good year when they're seniors is long gone. These days, everything is roster building year-to-year.

Re: 2023 Season Thread
The new pitching coach, the righty Candiotti from Wichita, and the lefty Telfer from Pepperdine are strong moves. You always welcome more pitchers, but with likely 7 position players gone, like to see a few additions from the portal there, in addition to the incoming high school recruits.
Re: 2023 Season Thread
Lots of positional losses. Likely the whole infield other than White and LF and CF. We should be able to sell playing time to proven portal guys but pitching is definitely job #1. We do have our end of the year starting rotation due to come back

LSU beats Wake Forest 2-0 in eleven to advance to the championship round. Will Jay Johnson get that championship ring this year?

With JJ’s recruiting chops and LSU’s money, I am afraid this is going to be a regular thing for them

LSU's buying up all the good players. From womens basketball to baseball. Crazy.
