Hasn’t that been asked and answered a few times?
Our chances are not great.

When you see the recruiting guys writing articles and hyping up visits, you know we’ve got a good shot. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 5:08 pmProbably. Gonzaga is tough to beat these days.
This one has been zero smoke.

Re: Lets Talk '24
I have no idea where he ultimately ends up, because neither does Zoom. UW is offering the biggest payday, but with the caveat of a very unstable situation with its coaching staff. Gonzaga has always been the no brainer and I always felt that in the end that's where he'd end up, but Few may get tired of waiting here. USC & Bama are heavily involved and could easily poach him. I just don't think the role he'd want year 1 is available at Arizona, although if certain guys play out of their minds this year, it's possible. If he puts it off until Spring I think that could theoretically help Arizona's chances, but who knows. Some recruits are blatantly obvious and others are complicated. The kid's unwillingness to tell anybody no is what makes this recruitment complicated. Wish I had a better answer for you BC, but this isn't an easy recruitment to peg down. Odds at this point though are heavily against Arizona, but Tommy is still involved, so that means he has a sliver of hope for some reason. Tommy doesn't tend to waste his time as you know.

Any other PG targets we might wanna keep an eye on? Also, isn't Jamari Phillips a PG?

As far as 2024 goes, beyond Zoom, just international & transfers to fill any holes. I don't even think Arizona will need a PG anyways, Zoom is more of a luxury.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:25 amThanks, Choo. Re: Lets Talk '24
We could possibly return Bradley and Boswell, add in Carter and Jamari, have one of our bench bigs step up and have another solid starting 5. Add in KJ, Murauskas, and Stephen…that’s a good 8…plus any transfers.
I know Boswell is possible to go to draft…but I would also expect to lose Keshad, Ballo, Pelle, and Love.

Rumors of Zoom being on campus this coming weekend? Does that mean we go from 5% to 10% chance? (Joking of course) or is this getting serious?
Re: Lets Talk '24
I would think this is good news because a couple of weeks ago most thought he would announce a decision before he got to UA. I hear the problem is he is too nice and he can't say no to anyone.IndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 1:28 pm Rumors of Zoom being on campus this coming weekend? Re: Lets Talk '24
In regards to Zoom…
We could realistically expect to return Bradley, Boswell, & Lewis..while also bringing in Phillips.
That’s already 4 deep in the backcourt. I would imagine that’s a big deterrent. Maybe the longer this takes, the better for us…we have the luxury of waiting while other teams may become impatient. Zoom could also be waiting to see if any of those guys would leave before making his decision after the season, or near the end IF Boswell plays his way into the draft.
Of course I’m speculating and projecting…I have no sources.

Re: Lets Talk '24
Tommy is doing a fantastic job with roster management at the moment. I think we're set up well to weather the impact of some early departures, which feel unlikely at the moment.
And I agree that a long, drawn out Zoom recruitment is better for us since it allows more time for our 2024-25 roster situation to come into focus. If it's increasingly clear that Boswell or someone else is gone, that opens up a big-minutes guard spot.
But again, Tommy has put us in a good spot.

Take into account that if Diallo commits, one of our guards would enter the portal.

UA was his first official visit last October and the only school to get a second official visit. Hopefully he wants to be part of this class in our first year in the Big 12.

If I was Zoom I would wait until the spring. Who knows who is going to go pro, or enter the portal. The UA is stacked at guard, although I am sure Zoom would play. But so are the Zags. For being coached it should either be UA or Zags. And that includes competition in practice.

Lol...I was basically told to pipe down on here recently when I asked about Zoom. I still don't think he'll end up at AZ, but it's funny how his recruitment is maybe murkier than some here have claimed.Catintheheat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 9:46 amThe 3 schools are Arizona, Gonzaga, and Washington. I think these guys committing at a late date hurt their team. Zoom Diallo
There were rumblings he would commit on his birthday (yesterday), but that never materialized. We previously reported Gonzaga and Washington were the teams out front for the five-star prospect and we see no reason to change course on that right now. Arizona is still lingering behind.

I still think our roster outlook for next season makes it a little hard to see where Zoom fits in. But if Tommy is still putting time into this recruitment, we have to assume he’s got a starting 5 envisioned for next season that includes Zoom. Maybe Zoom, Jamari, Carter, FB and Krivas? Feel like our frontcourt is anyone’s guess for next season. Could use a solid transfer or two. Depends on the Veesaar situation too.

Absolutely. I'm going to assume Zoom isn't coming, so next year it could be Jamari, KJ, Carter, FB, Krivas.
This assumes Boswell leaves, of course. If he's back, we're looking at one of the best backcourts in the country.

We will likely only have one spot remaining on our roster unless someone leaves early, or transfers…which will inevitably happen of course.
