Wilner is such a jackass. ASU will hire an "impressive" replacement as AD for Anderson. Because Crow has done "first-rate" work. Yeah, despite the fact that he hired the guy in the first place, had a large share of responsibility for Larry Scott's long and destructive tenure, and he has somehow managed to turn ASU into even more of a diploma mill, whose only claim to fame is the vague and undefined concept of "innovation." (Can you major in that?) But he brought in some cash from their on-line offerings during COVID. Great. And let's resurrect the "sleeping giant" lie. Other than a one-off in '96, ASU was consistently pretty good for about 15 years, propped-up by a whole lot of NCAA cheating, only a small percentage of which was ever caught. Absent that, they are what they've been. (But it would be really good if the Republic continues to carry "The Hotline." Hey...when's the renewal?)

So in the end it turns out to have been relatively well-played. Don't know if the option was available then, but kind of like if we had self-imposed a bowl ban when we knew we'd be bad in 1980 after the Mason stuff, and then the Tunnicliffe/Johnson/Hunley team in 83 could have gone to a bowl.
