I thought you had to have re-established yourself back inbounds with both feet before you could touch the ball?
Actually, scratch that. Legal play because Fuck ASU.

ASU is going to get eaten alive in the Big 12.

Re: ASU blows
I meant to mention that Adam Miller, their top recruit/transfer portal guy (a guard from LSU), made his unexpected debut against TCU over the weekend. The NCAA had denied an appeal on some aspect of his eligibility. But, there was some unrelated court case somewhere with an injunction against the NCAA that apparently applied to him. So he led ASU in scoring with 20 points. But they still got waxed and lost by 20.
Re: ASU blows
The fact they got that guy and still lost by 20 just makes it even more hilarious.

Folks, its fun to laugh at the jokers from Normal, but we need them to decent enough to wear down touring partners.

I think this wear down thinking is way overrated. We are Arizona so will always get the opponents best shot.RichardCranium wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 12:34 am Folks, its fun to laugh at the jokers from Normal, but we need them to decent enough to wear down touring partners.

Re: ASU blows
My Pac 12 stream for last night's Arizona game Vs Cal kept cutting out so I suffered myself flipping on ASU @ Stanford on ESPN2. From a basketball watching standpoint, the ending was entertaining with a come-from-behind finish by ASU, but that can't save just how mediocre both teams played. And are. The announcers seemed more interested in commenting on the in-game Arizona highlights (Caleb Love's dunk), even saying "This Arizona team is bad news for the rest of the conference even in a good year, but especially this year when nobody save maybe Colorado can stand up to the Wildcats."
That's roundabout good news for ASU too. There's plenty of time for the Sun Devils to improve and beat enough middling conference teams to replicate last season's +20 win "run" to a backdoor into the NCAA Tourney. Their players are serviceable but the loss to San Diego will linger.
On another note, Peja Stojakovic's freshman son Andrej plays for Stanford. Best part of last night's game was the camera panning across the Stojakovic family any time Andrej scored.

Dude if we don't beat Utah and ASU takes out Colorado, and ASU is 4-0 and we are 2-2 in pac-12 play, I ........ I might throw up a little bit.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

A long ass official review with 16 seconds left in a 14 point game is the most Pac 12 thing ever.

Teams take on the persona of their coach. ASu getting 5 Ts in a half is proof positive of this axiom. (cue the world's smallest violin)

Re: ASU blows
Some may chalk this up to "all's fair in love, war, and basketball", but I thought this was particularly cheesy by Hurley. Adem Bona is notorious for foul trouble. Midway through the first half, his man paused on the baseline, then full-out sprinted to the FT line, as though he might receive a pass for a quick shot. Bona chased after him. But ASU had somebody in full sprint headed straight for Bona who slammed on the brakes just in front of him and flopped backwards. It wasn't a pick to free the guy up for a shot, and the ball was nowhere near him. And Bona eventually fouled out. We don't even use the term good sportsmanship much anymore; it's like some antique relic. I can see doing something desperate late in a game you're losing. But this was obviously a specific play put in prior to the game to set up one player as part of an overall strategy. Almost like running a specific blitz to target and knock out a good QB. Naturally, there was no replay; you had to run the DVR back. Maybe some of that approach to the game plays into why the refs didn't mind racking up T after T on ASU to cost them the game.
Re: ASU blows
Beavers take down ASU. And Bobby Hurley prolonged the agony by fouling even though they were down 15.
