On the podcast Scheer was on it did sound like Robbins hired an outside audit to look at the whole university. Who know who, but it was supposedly done by Robbins

I think that pic is student housing.
Re: Dave Heeke
If that did happen I would have a problem with the audit....Robbins should not be involved. He could just hire some syncophant accounting firm that will find whatever he wants them to find. We need an outside audit that is NOT under the direction of Robbins or the UA accounting group or the UA Engineering/construction group.phxcat23 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 8:38 pmOn the podcast Scheer was on it did sound like Robbins hired an outside audit to look at the whole university. Robbins literally approved any thing and every thing Heeke proposed, so yeah I guess he had to fire Heeke....to protect himself. Best thing about all this is the irony of Dave Heeke finally doing something good and getting fired less than a week after doing it. Arizona Athletics is truly a tragic comedy.Catintheheat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 12:09 amThe audit report is going to be released Thursday, and it is not good. Re: Dave Heeke
Because we are a relatively poor public school.
Theres nothing here that $300M won't fix..........$240M for the school and $60M for the NIL collective.
Perhaps we should offer Elon Musk an honorary degree. At the party afterwards we could go full Jeffery Epstein and offer up the entire UA Pom line to him. We could then film the "action" on a hidden camera in his room. If he only coughs up a meager half billion we are good for years.

Re: Dave Heeke
Holy shit. Thanks for mentioning me multiple times while I was gone by the way.
The $240M has nothing to do with Athletics. The professors are to blame though but being "leftist" or "woke" have nothing to do with it. I have watched the Senate meetings. There is tons of politics between Robbins and professors. That is why professors leaked it to the media.
Again politics is internal politics. Not left or right or anything national or political parties etc

Way out of the loop on all this...
Will someone kindly post a TL;DR?
This all stems from the budget fallout? Which Heeke is (partly?) at fault for?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Dave Heeke
There’s an audit of the AD that will be coming out soon that is BAD, so Robbins fired Heeke and pinned the financial mismanagement on him (and also kind of tried to blame him for Fisch leaving, which was weird). But apparently Robbins was also most definitely in the loop so we’re all waiting for him to fire himself (or for ABOR to figure out what in the fuck they are actually supposed to do).

Re: Dave Heeke
Regarding the AD search. No sitting AD from the Big Ten or SEC would likely touch it, and it's debatable what sitting AD would be available or affordable from the Big XII or ACC. So unless we're bringing somebody up from the MWC or a situation like Heeke from the MAC, I'd think it should be about the top assistant ADs in the country. We've turned out a number who have had success elsewhere. The thought always seems to be to bring them back, but by then, they've usually priced themselves out. Unless somebody thinks the financial stuff involves her, I'd just promote Erika Barnes. If her reputation is considered too stained, then somebody similar from a P4 conference school. And don't make the mistake of overreacting and bringing in some no-vision bean-counter type. (I did that for a while, so I can say that.) Just hire the person from the available pool with the best wide-reaching skill set.

Re: Dave Heeke
I’d say that Barnes would be off limits until the audit is released, just because she was in the athletic department.
Didn’t I see something about Brennan bringing an assistant AD with him?
They said a while back that the AD had not repaid the $100 mil loan fast enough. Was Heeke blowing money on fancy clothes for Adia instead of repaying loan?

Guess it depends on what she knew and was responsible for. If her name is all over this upcoming audit report it would look pretty not great to have named her interim AD.Alieberman wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 3:02 pm Erika Barnes would make a lot of sense.... but is there a reason she wasn't immediately made acting AD? Re: Dave Heeke
This is actually something I know a bit about, so here is my opinion.
The Auditor General issued the audited financial statements for the University on October 10.
https://financialservices.arizona.edu/s ... 023web.pdf
The athletic department operates as a separate entity that acts like a related party to the University. The AD files a report with the NCAA annually and this isn't the same level of assurance as the University's financial statement audit. I am trying to find the actual report, but below is an example from a different university athletic department.
https://gopsusports.com/documents/2024/ ... _Final.pdf
In the November meeting, Rulney shared internal financial statements about their cash flow position and realizing they're in deep shit, they shift the blame to athletics because they can't pay their debt service timely enough to the University and need to cut costs to repay the loan at a faster pace.
The University conducts the athletic department audit that gets released Thursday and the results are going to paint a very bad picture. Robbins needed a sacrificial lamb for the University and ABOR (Rulney) and then a sacrificial lamb for the Athletic Department (Heeke). It's a shitshow that has been poorly managed up and down the line and to be honest, ABOR should tell Robbins to hit the halls and get the fuck out.
With that being said, I'm not sure you can promote Barnes because all need to be accountable for this shitshow within the athletic department.

What about reaching out to the WSU AD. He has been masterful in getting assets from the PAC and decision capability on distribution. Their athletic departments do good regardless of their location. He just seems competent if you hear him speak.
