Good game aggies, Houston on cruise control
Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
I don't mind Houston winning because they have better odds of taking down Duke.

This is why March is my favorite time of the year.

Houston will win. Book it.

On the vast majority of nights Shead is utterly indominable.

I wouldn't mind this game going to another OT because the last game of the night is already over.

Texas A&M rebounds the fn ball. Played hard the whole game. I think we need an annual series with GCU soon.

Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
Annual one game a year - NAU one year, GCU the next.
Or home and home - NAU one year, GCU the next?
Or "Great Desert University Challenge" - Arizona, NAU, GCU, ASU (early season non-conference)
Any sufficiently advanced troll is indistinguishable from a genuine kook.
Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
ABOR already forces us and ASU to play NAU, so an all 4 AZ university challenge actually sounds like a way to make it fun.RichardCranium wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 9:07 pm

Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
This. GCU is a for profit Christian school that offers nothing to the UA. Beating them is like a 6th grader beating up a kindergartener, and losing to them would be a disaster.
Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
I know what they are. If they are your definition of a kindergartner you haven't seen them play much or seen their fans. Losing to them would not be a disaster since they are a worthy tournament team. Certainly losing to them would be no worse the Oregon State.

Why would we want to help bring visibility to a growing program in our recruiting backyard?

Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
WOW not sure kids can understand or read these days eh? Their fans are crazy and they play really hard and get a lot of players from the portal. Not to mention their coach hit one of the most famous NCAA tournament shots. We are Arizona and playing good teams should be our model going forward. Our recruiting backyard is anywhere in the country.CalStateTempe wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 5:58 am Why would we want to help bring visibility to a growing program in our recruiting backyard?

Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
Big whoop.
I could give two shits about what their fans want. Too much downside risk to Arizona to prop them up. Let them build on their own.
In short, much like ASU, Fuck GCU.

GCU
I think, as a fan, it's perfectly fine to appreciate the genuine excitement of GCU fans having a chance to get out on the big stage. My experiences with their alumni and campus personnel is that they're generally pretty nice people. That said, we're certainly under no obligation to give them a helping hand, and any efforts on their behalf somehow trying to force the issue of some on-going tournament format at the Suns arena with ASU/NAU on a twin bill or something like that should be rejected. Doesn't benefit us, and there is some potential downside, although we're certainly not recruiting the same players. I guess I might play them at McKale (as we've done in the past), but I wouldn't play them at their place or anywhere else in Phoenix any more than I'd play at NAU.

GCU in the tradition of Ben Lindsey!!!

Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
There is absolutely no reason to play GCU anywhere but our own court. There are only 31 game’s available and the MTE we play in are a much higher profile and resume builder then having a two game set with the other three in state schools. Hard pass and wondering what the cat was drinking when he posted that

That's a beatdown. If Clemson was any good, UA would have lost by as much.

my boss/owner of company I work for is an Illini alum - I'd like to humor him and root for Illini but after our debacle to that Illinois team I don't think I can!
Re: Non-UA Tourney Thread
I think someone from Duke put a curse on the North Carolina team, and included Caleb Love in that.
Still can't take that win in Cameron away from us though!

See I don’t fault the Illini too much. Tough loss but we, or should I say Shakur, did it to ourselves.
