Couldn't hit fucking layups, or threes. What a fucking horrible performance and a failure by the staff to adjust when the threes weren't dropping.
Outplayed and outcoached.
Horrible. Just horrible.

All we had to do was keep taking it to the basket, this one is for sure on Tommy for not reigning them in
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Yep… we got back into game by going hard to rack and FTs and then step away from itKillerKlown wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:25 pm Im so pissed off at larson and love. We know what we're getting with boswell already but holy shit.
A chance to take a lead and we start shooting threes. Just why?
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Another dog shit performance in the first half. And another disappointment to end the season. Sadly, not unexpected.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Yeah?
Coaching coached like 37/16/68 on fairly open shots?
I’m the first to agree they should go to the hoop when 3 shooting is dead, but eventually someone needs to make a shot.

I don’t know…..I love Lloyd’s style of play
But……I don’t understand how he failed to recognize that he needed to have the team play balls out defense in the first half to MANUFACTURE points.
We ran 8 fucking deep tonight…..there is no reason that we shouldn’t have pressed and trapped the entire game!

Bold prediction - Kylan Boswell will not, no way José, be the starting point guard at Arizona next season.

Bradley single handedly tried to bring us back and he almost did. He most definitely will be starting over boswell next year imo. Oh well. Love should come back to makeup for his shity performance.

Lloyd needs to gut the roster of dead weight. We need a different type of player on this team.

Merk....hate to say this but that is an idiotic statement. Beating Duke, Wisconsin, Alabama etc along with winning the conference 2 out of 3 years and the Tourney 2 out of 3 years says he can coach. I don't blame Tommy for this loss we just couldn't hit a shot. Most of those shots were good looks. Pelle probably played his worst game ever in an Arizona uniform and Love has not been shooting well the last 4 games.
I would like to give a special shoutout to Omar. Man I am proud of you and all you have accomplished. You have been a great representative for this program and played every game with heart and drive. I will really miss you and thanks for being a Wildcat.

This is an example of poor coaching….sure Boswell is not playing well. I never thought that he had above average athleticism or length. But this is on Tommy for not getting on him to play some tough D and force turnovers and get some easy buckets.

It's the coaches job to reign in his players when they are taking shots that put the team in a hole. This could have been corrected within the first 5-7 minutes or so. If the shots are not falling, the coach has to have a plan B gameplan for these type of situations.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
I agree that Tommy can coach and he can coach to win, but he didn’t recognize that he would need to coach his players to execute a different style of play tonight for the ENTIRE game to win. We needed to play balls out D to win tonight AND we did do that in spurts.TheCat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:33 pmMerk....hate to say this but that is an idiotic statement. This board is gonna be heated for awhile lol
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Clemson hasn’t been favored in any of their games and have won all three. Teams have shot 14-75 from three against them, many were wide open shots. Kind of hard to figure that out
One thing for sure, we did speed them up with pressure and it was effective. CTL should have told them to just put your head down and take it to the rack every time. If you get called for an OFoul, so be it.
I am happy with his leadership but he needs to rethink his recruiting. Less foreign players and definitely find a shooter. I am good with Larsson, Love and Boswell moving on if they choose to do so

You wanna see the difference between this program and an elite program? UCONN comes out and wins by 32. You'd never see that from Arizona.

This is absolutely 100% coaching. Our guys were. Chucking up shots left and right and he never corrected that not once. We had a clear advantage if we kept finding it inside. But no.....early out once aginMrKyle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:24 pmI don’t think this is a Lloyd problem eitherdmjcat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:22 pmDisagree. We just need to recruit some more consistent players............Love was too streaky.
I don't think any UA Cat fan expected Love to get hot for 6 straight games.
We need a dynamic PG and SG//SF that can hit 3s
The fact Boswell was MIA for so long this season and Love is a streaky volume shooter doomed us

They have the Covid year if they want to come back as does Ballo. Only Johnson is out of eligibility

You guys are idiots. Yes, we got back into the game getting to the hoop but then Clemson packed it in on defense - as they should have - and dared us to hit open shots which we couldn’t.
Easy knee jerk reaction to blame this on coaching but it was our top player like Love and Pelle that let us down.
And when we needed stops, we gave up easy layups.

I wish them all well, but glad they are gone. Probably only miss Johnson to tell you the truth. Just loved his intensity.

Exactly. Not that I know anything about basketball, but I used to coach biddy basketball. I would have called a timeout immediately and pulled Love and Boswell for chucking.Fishclamps wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:52 pm And all of those players were in foul trouble, so they should have kept going at the rim regardless of how much they were packing it

That's the thing about the tournament, the games tell you where you really are talent wise. Tommy will not get the benefit of the doubt until he makes some changes.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
History repeats: CTL played Kriisa too much last year, played Boswell too much this year. At some point he’s gotta be comfortable yanking players when it’s warranted/ the signs are there.

The wide open 3s we missed are unfortunate, but Larsson getting lost and abused on defense all game was inexcusable. He really regressed the last part of the season with missed FT's/layups/poor defense/TO's; hate to see it because overall I think he had a great career at UofAMerkin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:52 pm Ballo, Love and Larsson are all gone even with eligibility.

My only hope is that Lloyd really holds the chucking players accountable in the future.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
As much as I want to blame PG play for tonight, Bradley made up for it. This loss is on terrible basketball basic basketball plays. Gave up 3 layups on inbounds plays. Piss poor defensive communication knowing that Clemson was going to run a 5 out offense. Last 10 minutes of the game went completely away from what was working. For CTL to let that happen, is unacceptable.

Looking at Twitter and Facebook, you might be in the minority if you think letting the guards chuck up 28 3s when the Clemson bigs were in foul trouble is good coaching.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
This loss is on Tommy. KJ didn't get in until the under 12 min media timeout in the 2nd half. He was the reason we got back in the game in the 1st half along with Bradley.
Not playing KJ over Pelle and Bradley over Boz is coaching malpractice. Pelle is a 6th manz KJ will be a pro.
So disappointing, this was such a good draw for us and we have talent. At least Miller made elite 8's.
