Thinking of a Guadalajara trip to get away for election day

Post by dovecanyoncat »

.... about a week or so just to put some distance between us and all the election stoopid. Seems at first blush that there's plenty to do just in the city center, but if anyone has recommendations I'd really appreciated them.

Can't really help you, unfortunately, but you have the right idea. For the same reasons, I was planning an overseas trip for election week until two months ago work assigned me to be in Northern Virginia all next week. :?

We just got to Zurich after 4 days in Paris and will be in Munich on election day. If Trump wins we might not come back.

If Trump wins .... the Mexican economy/peso/stock market will crash and we can well afford to buy an opulent second home there or maybe Puerto Vallarta. Maybe I'll just drink myself to death.

Recently the German Finance Minister warned of a trade war if you-know-who starts one with the universe. Maybe we're both fucked.

dove you've got this song stuck in my head now:

"Well I hear the whistle but I can't go
I'm gonna take her down to Mexico
She said oh no
Guadalajara won't do

Well I did not think the girl
Could be so cruel
And I'm never going back
To my old school"

Goddamn but I love that song. Music is loved so idiosyncratically, but in my own madness I can't imagine any band being more worthy.

6 of my great grandparents were born in Germany and 2 in Austria. Might have to look into citizenship by descent on this trip.

If you learn anything interesting let me know. My great grandparents immigrated from Germany but I don't think that helps me. I'm not Jewish either

Good luck getting back across the border if Duh Furor wins. You’re on a list Dove!

Even us Arrogant Bastards for Harris are worried, as the arrogant MAGA bastards take it even more personally than anyone else...
