Re: Assistant Coaches
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: Assistant Coaches
As far as new assistant coaches go I sure hope we have people in mind and people that are interested. Recruiting and the transfer portal is not going to wait.
Re: Assistant Coaches
Hiring well qualified assistants is not going to be easy.
1) The UA doesn't have much money (the school is broke)
2) Any potential applicant is going to know that Brennan is already on the hot seat and may be gone in as little as a year. What coach wants to apply for a job knowing that he may get canned before he can unpack his belongings??
3) The UA football team is in rebuilding mode. The new assistants are going to have to recruit their asses off, without much in the way of NIL
I doubt we are going to get the cream of the crop, knowing that the potential applicants are aware of #1-#3

Re: Assistant Coaches
The checks boosters wrote to get rid of Brennan will go to new assistants, so money to get good ones shouldn't be an issue.
Your other two points are valid though. But about #2, an upside is knowing if you do a good job you'll have your foot in the door for the head coaching job.

Scheer claimed that in his latest podcast.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Don't know about Carter neither... Sure he seems to be a great person, but can he coach? I know Oline contributed to lackluster rushing, but the RB room doesn't give me confidence right now.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:57 amYup, but the guys from San Jose State are just too good to let go or something. Truthfully the only assistant that should keep his job is probably Carter. Everybody else can go.
Re: Assistant Coaches
I just re-listened and he said it's possible that the money could be used for assistants. Possible.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Seeing as how O line was one of the biggest weaknesses of an overall weak team, I'd say they were a large part of why our RBs didn't do much (along with an ancient terrible offensive scheme)Abrahamarvel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 6:47 pmDon't know about Carter neither... Re: Assistant Coaches
So, the “boosters” actually wrote checks/transferred $13 million expressly to get rid of Brennan and now that money is earmarked for assistants to help him get the program back on track?
Like, they didn’t make Brennan’s firing a prerequisite for writing a check/transferring money?
Or, they didn’t promise the money to fire Brennan would be transferred once he was in fact fired?
Seems improbable.

DRF: Hi, I'm trying to raise the funds in order to terminate Brennan's contract. Can you help?
Booster: Sure. How much do you need?
DRF: $14 million.
Booster: I can help with $5 mil.
DRF: Great
DRF: Oh, just in case I determine not to terminate Brennan can I use your funds for anything else?
Booster: Go fuck yourself. If I don't have that money back within 24 hours I'm sending some dude that goes by the name MAchina on you.

They sure couldn't poke any holes to make some running space, but Fifita led the nation in TTT (time to throw) for most of the season.Fishclamps wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 7:05 am Seeing as how O line was one of the biggest weaknesses of an overall weak team, I'd say they were a large part of why our RBs didn't do much (along with an ancient terrible offensive scheme)

I think this is all speculation and wishful thinking. No one knows the amount that was ponied up or what conditions were on that money if any. Personally I think our AD would need to flow a potential hire or other info to get them to open their wallets.Winger wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 7:24 amSo, the “boosters” actually wrote checks/transferred $13 million expressly to get rid of Brennan and now that money is earmarked for assistants to help him get the program back on track?

Re: Assistant Coaches
Not certain on this ^^^ but a lot of what has been floated to date doesn't make much sense. Further, no one I have talked to/asked nor hang with has heard about the fundraising for his buyout. That is different than saying it didn't happen, but for now it just seems off. Especially the $$$ moving from paying Brennan's buyout to hiring new assistants (or going to NIL). But also DRF allegedly having raised the $13 mil for his buyout and then electing not to fire Brennan. That is a stupid and politically risky move. That is in part why I posted way back that if she had the money Brennan was done for.TheCat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 1:18 pmI think this is all speculation and wishful thinking. Re: Assistant Coaches
My guess is that she got some much smaller amount of money committed to the buyout. Once she realized she wasn't close, she asked those donors if she could get her son a BBALL scholarship, I mean she asked the donors if they would spend those dollars on NIL.
Re: Assistant Coaches
Tell them you are going to get Liberty head coach Jamey Chadwell and his record and someone will pony up some bucks or should. Got to have a replacement that is realistic before you ask for money to get rid of a coach.
