Unless the rules have changed, the university needs to wait for the job listings to close to make any announcements, in case Shay Binnion wants to apply again.
They've waived for coaches in the past.

Scheer said on Luke's podcast today that he expects a hiring announcement in 48-72 hours.
Thanks Greg. I guess I'll check the podcast.

Luke is only watchable when he has Scheer or other commentators with him. Luke never seems to do any research nor does he present stats. It's just his opinions and his speech patterns are tough to take. On the rare occasion he does interviews though, he's pretty good.

Going all in. I like it. Not sure why he didn't follow Huff to Southern Mississippi, but hard to turn down P4 after being there.

Maybe a year too late, but lets see Brennan can turn this around with the talent depleted.

Now he just needs to correct all the other horrible hires he made and try and replace the talent that left and repair the team and communities (outside of Machina's) faith in him.

My true hope is that the new assistants can bring in some talented guys and maybe re-recruit at least a couple of our starters. I don’t think Brennan has the presence or resume to do it on his own. He needs help.

I assume that's enough to hang on to Noah (along with his size scaring some off.) I'd still say we really need to grab a transfer QB as an insurance policy when we currently only have a walk-on and a true freshman as backups.

I really believe CBB and staff were so buried by other sports news in the Bay Area that they never developed the skills needed to communicate with the media.

They also never had any fan expectations to deal with at SJST and that made them very incapable of handling what was coming at them this year.

CBB shoulders the blame but the real villain in Heeke. His hires have been woeful and I give him no credit at all for Lloyd

If it’s Gonzales then it was planned. Akina does one year to keep the players then steps down.

I would assume he will move us to a base 3-3-5 as that is what he likes. Hope he does a lot better job of recruiting then he has exhibited

Anyone know contract info? I am sure we paid him a lot more than Southern Miss would have paid him

Was he on any other teams radar? At this point the spread, while effective with the right personnel, is a bit archaic

He was only at Marshall for a year and worked with what he had.

What Arizona fans should know about him is that he’s young, hungry, and he’s got a lot of ideas about how to attack defenses and most of them work.

They went from 6-7 and scoring 23 ppg to 10-3 and scoring 32 in his first and only season there.

Hes not 100 years old and seems willing to adapt his offense to the personnel he has.

Those are a couple reasons I can think of.

Edit: Should also point out that they didn't pass as much as other teams because they had an incredibly balanced rush/pass offense.

Awful

I wonder if there’s any chance of bringing back the transfers sitting out one year rule or if that’s legally done forever.

Don’t believe everything you hear. Marshall fans are angry and their rivals just got Rich Rod back. Easier to point the finger at the guy who is gone than at their AD who they have to live with.

Marshall and Southern Miss are in the same conference, so not like wanted to leave Marshall a better place.

Huff did turn down extension offers from Marshall, but didn't want to have a big buyout clause per https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... hall-coach

Although many schools will pay for them. Didn't UDub pay $10M to UA to get Fisch?

Trying to find if Noah has made an announcement yet. We all know what Les Fifita said, but Brennan said that Noah was waiting for the OC hire to make a decision.

Guess we are still waiting, including Seth.

https://arizonasports.com/story/3567440 ... ah-fifita/

BY ALEX WEINER
Diamondbacks reporter, ArizonaSports.com editor

Arizona Wildcats offensive coordinator Seth Doege laid out what he expects from the offense during his introductory press conference on Friday, and it all starts with Noah Fifita at quarterback.

Doege said he’s already communicated with Fifita, whom he called his top priority.

“Noah is a real dude, so I’m excited about being able to have an opportunity to coach him,” Doege told reporters in Tucson. “He’s priority number one for me. Obviously, this offense is a lot better if Noah is behind center. … I’m excited about the personnel we have. Obviously you want to add stuff in the portal, but I’m really excited about that quarterback and I think he makes this thing go.”

Alabama —> $12 mil —> Washington

Washington —> $5.5 mil —> Arizona

Arizona —> $1 mil —> San Jose State

Fwiw, Fisch had an extension on his desk prior to the 2023 season and wouldn’t sign it. I also was told that he actively looked at a NFL OC position prior to the 2023 season but didn’t take it because the money was neutral. Robbins was of the opinion that the work/$$$ Lopez and Kinerk arranged for Fisch was enough, both coming only after Fisch shook their hands on staying if they raised the $$$, until the morning the news of Fisch to UW broke. Based on Fisch telling him everything was good the afternoon or evening of the previous day.

Don’t take this the wrong way, UW is a much better job and beyond that Fisch had to get out of town before the reality of the 2024 season hit and tarnished his resume. He had to take the UW job and I am not intending to be critical with what is posted above. In fact I am thankful he left. As awful as Brennan has been.

That hand shake stuff is why Lopez was so angry. Thats why he put up more $ for Tmac and Fafta.
I expected Fisch to leave after 2024, and I would have been fine with it. Leaving like he did, after telling everyone he was staying, was a douche move.

Talked to someone who could/should have known yesterday and fwiw he hadn't heard that it was for certain going to be Gonzalez (tho acknowledged the rumor). He also didn't know why, such that it is Gonzalez, Arizona wouldn't have already announced it.
