18 pick ups but we need about 40 to backfill the depth we lost. We must have some money that we are flashing

Are you including the 20 high school kids in that 40?

No since I doubt most of them could make a real impact on the two deep. Rosters expanded to 105 so if we had 40 left on the roster with 20 recruits, that would leave us about 40-45 spots

Arizona has 110 kids on the roster this year. Around 23 or so entered the portal and 13 or so exhausted their eligibility or entered the draft. We can't take 40 kids from the portal.

I thought I read somewhere that we had 80 scholarship guys and with the guys in the portal, those that gave no more eligibility and those that went into the draft, that we were down to 40 guys. Think it was Spears but I really have no clue on our numbers

Tight end Cameron Barmore from Mercyhurst has transferred to Arizona. Never heard of Mercyhurst but he is 6'6" and caught 71 passes this past year and scored 13 touchdowns. From the video, he has great hands. Looks like he could be useful in the redzone being 6'6:. Noah could just throw it high in the air to him.

I've seen bigger crowds at Pee Wee football games. Mercyhurst just moved up from DII to FCS in 2024

Reminds me of some the teams the MBB plays where I have no idea what state these schools are in.

I only knew Ferris State since I grew up in Michigan.

2023: Participated in four games on the season. Had a season-high 105 yards receiving in the team's season opener on 8/31/23 against #1 Ferris State in a game in which he caught nine passes to go along with one touchdown. Had the first three TD day of his career in the team's home opener against Lock Haven on 9/9/23 in a game in which he caught six passes for 70 yards.

2022: Played in 9 games with 29 receptions, 497 yards, and six TD's to his ledger. He led the team in catches, receiving yards, TD's, average yards per reception, and receiving yards per game. Had over 100 yards receiving in back-to-back games to close out the season with his 120 against Bloomsburg being a season-high.

2021: Appeared in 11 games racking up 416 yards on 30 receptions with four ending in touchdowns. His biggest performance coming at Edinboro (10/16) where he had six receptions for 106 yards and a td. On the other side of the ball, he made three tackles.

2020-21: Played exhibition schedule in Spring of 2021 after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the Fall season.

I used to work at a FCS school real close to the stadium and football offices. Those players seemed a head shorter than the players I used to see walking around at the UA. I imagine DII is similar.

Can't teach tall (you can), but let him trying to block some P4 LBs and edge rushers and see how well he does. Bet he flinches a bit when he does catch the ball.

Plenty of good players have come from an FCS school. There's one in the Texas/ASU game right now.

Correct. Between teh portal and high school recruiting we've added 10 offensive linemen and according to Scheer they're looking to add more.

Good. Very few of the freshmen (if any) will be able to give us meaningful minutes and we have got to figure out a way for Noah to get time and lanes to throw through without him needing to scramble twenty yards in reverse.

Seemed like early in the process we were getting P4 players and now we’re getting kids from small schools. Wonder if that’s because there aren’t that many good players still left in the portal that we have a shot at so we’re mining for diamonds in the rough or if it’s that the money has dried up.

I absolutely love the plan Brennan has followed this off-season

Either guys with ties to Arizona or guys who were not fits in their current situation or best of all the lower level guys who were great and looking to step up. Multiple FCS all Americans. Good Group of 5 guys. Hit rate is better with those guys. I think we have at least two Skatabo guys

I guess it's the pessimist in me, but I was thinking that so far, we've got a pretty unimpressive group of transfers and recruits. Not one real highlight-unless I missed it.

Maybe the Fisch staff level of recruiting-even after one of the worst years in Arizona football history-spolied me.
