Put that shit on his tombstone.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

I'd rather just piss on it.

Loving me some Irish in the morning.
Re: ASU blows
Hurley's era ending in the most Hurley way possible with his players. Someone else got a T in the first half for ASU as well.

when do you think the hammer will drop? somewhere around byu / 'tah?
i'm hoping the AD waits until the big 12 tourney. someone needs to snap a photo of lonely bobby eating alone in a kc food court after asu's early exit.

As bad as things are in Tempe… it’s very rare for coaches to get fired mid season.
He’s gone… but I still think they let him finish off the season

Damn you Bobby Hurley for making me increase my popcorn budget especially in this economy.

Post-Hurley
Hurley is getting $2.8M annually, which runs through next season. He delayed almost a year before signing the two-year extension, which I would assume indicates even more behind-the-scenes tension. I don't see how there can be any esprit de corps with their record, the "discipline" issues, and his behavior issues. I don't see many, if any, wins for them down the stretch, which means a dead-end losing season and no postseason, and he seems like dead man walking.
When they brought him in, he was supposed to be some kind of minor celebrity recruiter. He's had some fairly talented teams, doing just enough to keep his job (for TEN years!) and he landed Quaintance. But it sure seems like Quaintance will be on the first plane out of there after the season. It doesn't seem possible that ASU would just let Hurley run out his contract through next year with no extension to avoid paying him when he'd wind up with the equivalent of bad high school players, an even worse record, and inevitably more embarrassing behavior.
So my question is, who would be a likely replacement? I looked through the top 70 salaried coaches, and I couldn't find a soul who would take the job and have a chance to win the news conference. So, it sounds to me like another low-paid unknown junior G-man like Dillingham, which certainly worked out for them last year (with a lot of help from the departed Skattebo.) But in the name game of college hoops, and with the "how will you get me to the NBA?" mind-set, it's debatable how well that would ever fly.

Re: ASU blows
If there’s an exodus of players after Hurley’s expected departure, I wonder if we’d take another look at Sanon if he was interested. As bad as he’s played there’s no way he’s going pro next year.
Re: Post-Hurley
Richard Pitino is in his fourth year at New Mexico and has them doing well again and could be looking for a step back up to a major conference.TheCatInTheHat wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 3:44 pm So my question is, who would be a likely replacement? Re: ASU blows
That would be interesting. Good pull...thx.
Re: ASU blows
Pitino Jr. would be an interesting hire. But if Pitino Sr. has any input, he'll tell Jr. to pass. Pitino Sr. told Billy Donovan not to take the Florida job. Florida was a place where successful basketball coaches went to retire or move on to greener pastures. It wasn't a destination job like Kentucky. Yes, Florida had a recent Final Four in 1994 under Lon Kruger when Donovan was hired, but Kruger was telling in Pitino's eyes.
Of course Donovan took the Florida job and made them into a blue blood. It helped that Donovan had full support and budget from the Gator AD, and now, look at top 25 men's basketball rankings, and the SEC dominates. The BIG12 is not the SEC when it comes to money flow, and it's another reason why Pitino Jr. might skip ASu and look at the SEC or B1G for a job.

Never forget that after this asshole headbutted Caleb Love, Bobby Hurley called our team “classless”.

They win at KSU 66-54. They were in command the entire game which makes me think Freeman must've been a huge source of toxicity behind the scenes.
They go home to face BYU so that should be fun.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

If I was the asu AD, I would fire Hurley once the season ends and hire Will Wade. Wade would turn that program around. Look at the job he has done at McNeese. The guy wins wherever he coaches and it's now legal for the players to get paid. This should be a no-brainer.

Why has Trevor Best been buried on ASU's bench until tonight? He seems like a decent player.
Re: ASU blows

sounds like he was talking about the bad luck of miller unexpectedly getting hurt and sitting things out. not that bobby still shouldn't seek help.

Re: ASU blows
This may be bad for the UA's recruitment of Koa Peat. If asu hires a legitmate non-psycho coach (coupled with their superior NIL offer) we may lose Peat to the scum
Re: ASU blows
That's a lot of ifs that don't have much chance of happening.

ASU fired the WBB coach 3 days ago. Probably can't afford to pay off both and get new hires.

Smart choice. Not only do we win, but Bobby isn't going to be able to recruit anyone half decent since everyone knows he wont be back after next year.Merkin wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 1:29 pm

Not sure why Peat would want to play for Bobby after Sanon did nothing there. I mean if he doesn't care about winning and wants to finish at the bottom of the Big 12 okay then.

I don't think Bobby's agent is going to be able to renegotiate an extension with the loss to K-State today.
I hope K-State can keep continuing the tradition of Wildcats beating the Scummy.

Re: ASU blows
What little has been posted online regarding NIL has suggested that asu's NIL deal is larger than the UA's.......but not significantly higher.
I have been hoping that a little bit of money would be outweighed by playing on a cellar dweller team coached by a lunatic.
I may be wrong. Money doesn't talk, It screams.

ASU is going to play in one of the "Crown" events, so another chance to watch them lose this year!

isn't asu still fundraising for their arena renovations? i can't imagine how the AD is pitching it to potential donors with hurley still around.
