The chant should have been “Fuck Tony Padilla”. The only thing “the Mormons” did to us was hit every goddamn corner three our lazy defense allowed them to take unchallenged. Which, last time I checked, is what they were supposed to do.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Not even sure I would bet that half the Zona Zoo would know who founded the LDS church, and even less what angel appeared to him.
Thinking most of the Zona Zoo would guess Brigham Young as the founder.
So not really a statement on Mormonism, just pissed off students lashing out on an easy subject. And like Chi said, take it out on Padilla.

This is the most honest and accurate post-mortem I've seen. The crowd had every reason to be upset. Some will say "well, we didn't dominate from the opening tip, so it's our own fault," but that's true of every close loss by every team in every sport, and nobody dominates every game. It was an egregious call, and while I'm supremely skeptical, the league should still take some kind of action, even if it's safely non-public in the off-season. The crowd didn't riot, but they unfortunately lashed out at the first thing they could think of that was available. Some think PR black eyes are tragic terminal illnesses, but I think more in terms of 24-hour news cycles and click bait. Another unfortunate aspect of the turn of events is that the narrative neatly switched from The Call to The Chant, FWIW. I'd say take it out on Utah, but the biggest key is to win the rest of our home games in the stretch run.Alieberman wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 4:27 pm When that call was made and the crowd was going super agitated... I said to my son... "This is about to get ugly... people are going to start throwing shit onto the court" I was relieved that didn't happen but I know something would happen. I guess the anti mormon rant was just the easiest... lowest common denominator form of protest. It was certainly a bad look that could have been even worse. Hopefully the message was received.
