Re: The Big 12 Thread
I'm watching the UCF-Utah game.
If it were not for the hideous floor (is that a Covid DNA strand??) I would think that I was watching UCLA play to an empty arena in Pauley Pavilion. The Big12 fans have boasted of their incredible fan support as a reason for not moving the tournament out of Kansas City.
I'm not seeing it tonight. The lower bowl is half empty.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
Is it really that surprising the arena isn’t sold out on a day when none of the top-8 teams are playing?
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: The Big 12 Thread
Yes, when Big12 fans (Kansas/KSU/ISU/OSU) boast of filling the arena for all games........and then use that as an excuse for why the tournament should not be moved.Chicat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:28 pm Is it really that surprising the arena isn’t sold out on a day when none of the top-8 teams are playing?
You are the guy who was quoting his ISU buddies who attend the games and cheer against Kansas. I guess your buddies don't attend any other games when ISU/Kansas are not involved.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
Shocker but no, they aren’t taking off a Tuesday from work to watch Colorado/TCU.dmjcat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:42 pmYes, when Big12 fans (Kansas/KSU/ISU/OSU) boast of filling the arena for all games........and then use that as an excuse for why the tournament should not be moved.Chicat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:28 pm Is it really that surprising the arena isn’t sold out on a day when none of the top-8 teams are playing?

And they wouldn’t if it was in Vegas either. Neither would I.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
And neither would I (thats why I'm not leaving for Kansas City until tomorrow)...........and thats the point. The Big12 fans within easy driving distance (Kansas schools/ISU/OSU) have boasted in numerous forums about the rabid fan support for everything associated with the Big12 tournament. They claim that a tourney held in Las Vegas would feature half empty arenas while the tourney in Kansas City is packed for all of the games.Chicat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:48 pmShocker but no, they aren’t taking off a Tuesday from work to watch Colorado/TCU.dmjcat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:42 pmYes, when Big12 fans (Kansas/KSU/ISU/OSU) boast of filling the arena for all games........and then use that as an excuse for why the tournament should not be moved.Chicat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:28 pm Is it really that surprising the arena isn’t sold out on a day when none of the top-8 teams are playing?

It clearly isn't.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
Don’t forget though that this is the first year of the expanded tourney. The packed house experience they are referencing was in former years when there were less games over less days.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
I think its more likely that iin previous years Kansas was a powerhouse which would frequently make it all the way to Championship game. The Kansas fans would pack the arena for all of the Kansas games.Chicat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:59 pm Don’t forget though that this is the first year of the expanded tourney. The reality is that I went to my Axios account this morning with the intention of making a few bucks from the games I am not attending (by selling my tickets). Literally every game had tickets going for $2 to $4............in other words there was little to no interest in the games we have had thus far.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
More games, more days, worse teams. Not a surprise if the interest this year in the Tuesday of the tourney doesn’t match the interest there was in former years when games started on Wednesday and featured Texas & OU, not ASU & Colorado.dmjcat wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:46 pm there was little to no interest in the games we have had thus far.
“Nuh-uh!” isn’t actually a cogent argument.

Let's hope for a Kansas / UCF triple overtime game.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
Look at the Buffs getting wins
Re: The Big 12 Thread
I don't know why Colorado always waits until the conference tournament to start playing well.

Not a good start for UCF.

Really respect UCF not not giving up. They made Kansas play hard to win.

They are the "team getting hot at the right time."
Re: The Big 12 Thread
I definitely wouldn’t want my team to play them.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
Biggest margin of victory today for the 3 games was 9 points. That's some pretty intense playing.
Win and advance Arizona.
