Oh did Mick have another press conference meltdown?

I didn’t realize Jay Bilas ripped the mickster a new one on Saturday. Good…

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Curious what Coach Tampon Applicator thinks of Jay Bilas’s comments…
“Coaches like to talk about accountability a lot — and rightfully so. Accountability’s important in everything, but I don’t think that’s what accountability looks like. That, to me, simply looked like blame. And I heard a lot of ‘I.’ You know, ‘I’m doing this.’ ‘I’m doing that.’ ‘And nobody else is doing.’ And, one, I don’t think that’s true, but that’s for him to decide, not me. But I didn’t care for it.
“And oftentimes when I hear something like that — and it’s not often — I think about what Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers says. And he says, ‘He loves coaches that resist the responsibility of coaching because they’re easy to beat.’ And when you talk negatively about your players, what you’re really doing is seeking comfort because your teaching is struggling.
“I get it. Coaches like to think they’re more passionate and they’re tougher than their players, but I happen to think this is true: Mick Cronin is not tougher than his players. When he was playing, he would not have gotten one loose ball, one rebound against the guys he’s got now; that would not happen. I don’t believe any of that, and I don’t think it’s productive.
“But, if he said the same thing in the confines of the locker room to his players — that’s fine. When you do that publicly, I don’t care for it. Maybe his players do. Maybe they’ll respond positively to it. I just don’t think it’s the right thing to do, but that’s his decision, not mine. I’m just saying what I think of that.”

Cronin was far more muted in his post game presser tonight. I guess he may have learned something from the fallout from his last press conference.

Looks like Mick is not a fan of being in the Big-10. I don't feel sorry for him since UCLA and USC are the reasons the Pac-12 is basically no more.

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Hey Mara has actually played really well in the last two games. Happy for him. Even had 7 rebounds which I think is the top of his career. Playing within himself and putting up some points. Glad to see he is not wasting away on the bench. The guy could be good especially on the defensive end.

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Mara has been a guy I watched for a long time. He is finally getting some time and has made a lot of progress. Someone has been working with him on his running. Before it was very slow and look labored/unnatural. Much more fluid now. He could be a defensive force with a little weight .

It's a real shame Mick wasted a lot of the non-conference not playing Mara but reasons only known to Mick.

Mick Cronin, UCLA Head Coach/Human Hemorrhoid -
Q: At what point do you start looking forward rather than backward?
Mick: Right now guys, it’s 12:40am and our season just ended. That’s it. You’re going to ask me about next year. Right now my biggest concern is how bad the seats are on the Allegiant flight, that terrible plane we’re going on to fly home tomorrow.

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
I just want to recruit the same guys as he does and show them an offensive tape of each team and a press conference with the head coaches. To me it is sad to see guys like Mara just wasting away. He has some defensive strengths but he is up and down in minutes. You got to give him time to make mistakes in the heat of battle. He will be a senior next year (I think) and has the experience of a freshman.

Mick Cronin as ucla’s choice is one of the more inexplicable developments in recent years. He couldn’t do anything noteworthy at Cincy, so that makes him a good fit for a slightly better program? Okay…

I want drones following him around 24/7. The Mick Show could run for a decade. Build him an enormous dome city to live out a simulated life built by audience-chosen inputs to: his recruits, win/loss record, injuries, ref encounters, technical foul ejections, airline seats, presser questions, player DUIs .... all by vote. And then everyone could bet on outcomes.
Bet on Season 3 episode 9 as Mick recovers at home from a brainstem stroke while his assistant coaches lead the Bruins to the National Championship victory. Following an invitation to the Whitehouse the bus is hijacked en route to LAX. Mick has forgotten to pack his bi-polar meds, but brings his conceal-carry weapon, and hilarious hijinks ensure.
