Best comment about this team I read last night on Reddit:

So those games are,
From the bottom up
Oregon
Akron
Houston
TX tech
Kansas
@Kansas
Vs. AssU
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

We certainly have shot it better from the perimeter during that 5-2 stretch. We will need to continue that this week to fulfill our dreams

Last time we played them in we got 2 points from Veesaar and Awaka and Love only had 8 points. We also got pounded on the boards by 13. We shot 39/23/63 so this will be a great game to measure our improvement

Bryant had only 6 points and this game alone could see his draft stick pushed into the lottery with a good game.

They will be tough but I see a bunch of great possibilities for us and I know we will be ready. I know I am

Duke is a really strong team no doubt. The positive is that we played them this year already so at least have some kind of idea how our guys match up (minus the fact Krivas was still playing limited minutes for us then)
I’ll just say it: we’re better without Krivas.
I agree - I think him going down solidified our rotation and let guys get comfortable in roles. Did not see a lot from him in those first few games he was playing, not sure if that was due to the foot injury or not.
Think both of you are mistaking. He would have been our best rebounder and was a beast. He would have allowed Tommy to play high low with two 7 footers. I trust the coaching staff when they say they thought he would be our best player. Hope we get a chance to see if his foot heels correctly. Last night was not V's best game but he is a gamer and continues to fight. I would have liked a guy 2 inches taller and 20 lbs heavier (Krivas) last night.

MK seemed a little slow footed, probably from the injury. HV seems like he can do things faster. HV had the bonus of redshirting although I'm a little worried that he was only slated for mop up minutes. Was that an mis evaluation or has he just become a different player once he was given real minutes?
If you play MK at the 5, can Awaka slide to the 4? Or do yo go the other way?
If you play HV and MK together, who is staying inside to guard the opposing 5 and get the tough rebounds?

Not much rest for the winners. Already off to NJ.

This is all that fall ball is about finding out.

I like this trend...

https://www.azdesertswarm.com/basketbal ... ga-seattle
NCAA Tournament notebook: Arizona’s 3-point shooting coming around at right time

At 32.9 percent for the season, Arizona is ranked outside the top 200 in Division I in 3-point shooting. The last time a Wildcats team shot this poorly from deep was 2006, when Lute Olson’s second-to-last squad shot 31.9 percent a year after being top 10 nationally at 40.2 percent.

Yet over the last six games the UA is shooting 42.2 percent from 3, a stretch that includes a 5-of-18 performance against Houston in the Big 12 Tournament title game. Arizona was 12 of 25 from 3 in Friday’s 93-65 win over Akron in the first round of the NCAA tourney, the second-most 3s in an NCAA game in school history and the eighth time this season it has made at least 40 percent of those shots.

Four of those occurrences have come this month. Coincidence, or have the Wildcats figured out the biggest flaw in their offense?

“Percentages don’t matter in March,” said Caleb Love, whose 180 3-pointers at Arizona ranks 10th in school history and who is in the top 50 in NCAA history with 380 triples. “We’ve just got to have confidence in ourselves.”

Love is shooting 32.6 percent from 3, slightly behind last year’s rate, but in the last six games he’s 16 of 36 (44.4 percent). Anthony Dell’Orso was 2 of 4 against Akron, only the second time since late January he’s made more than two in a game, while Carter Bryant was 2 for 4 and Jaden Bradley made 3 of 5, tying his career high.

Bradley hit one on the first possession of the game as the Zips chose not to guard the perimeter most of the night. His second came early in the second half to put Arizona up 17.

“That’s hard living, not guarding somebody, because you’re giving up open shots in a meaningful moment,” UA coach Tommy Lloyd said, referring to both Bradley and KJ Lewis, a 17.9 percent 3-point shooter who was 1 for 4. “I really trust those guys, and I want them to know that I have confidence in them, and I want them to shoot threes when they’re comfortable. They don’t feel like they have to shoot them all the time. But if they could step up, the combination of those two, and make a few threes here and there, it’s really an added element because what teams are deciding to do is not guard them.”
And, I've been saying the same as CTL all season (in game threads, when other posters say "stop shooting threes"): “I really trust those guys, and I want them to know that I have confidence in them, and I want them to shoot threes when they’re comfortable.

And, this is a classic comment from Caleb: “Percentages don’t matter in March”

Az's best strategy is to accidentally kick Flagg in the cojones, hard, many, many times.(NADT). Then humiliate the whole team like the last time we played them in the Tourney.

Thought I would give you some betting facts concerning our game vs Duke

AZ was the last team (since 1985) to not cover their first two games but went on to win the NC

Under Tommy Lloyd, Arizona is used to facing Oregon and also used to playing well after. They are 6-0 SU the game after facing Oregon under Lloyd, winning by 22.7 PPG.

Overall, Arizona is 5-16-1 ATS in the NCAA Tournament since 2014, the least profitable team on the spread in the country in that span.

Largest Dog in NCAAT Game, Seeding Era (every ARI NCAAT game above +7)
+10.5, 1997, vs. Kansas (won)
+9.5, 2011, vs. Duke (won)
+9.5, 2009, vs. Louisville (lost)
+8.5, 2025 vs. Duke

Under Scheyer, Duke has faced 24 non-conference opponents as a 6+ pt favorite, and they are 24-0 SU and 17-7 ATS.

This season, Duke is 25-0 SU as a double-digit favorite — the most wins without a loss as a big favorite than any other team in the country. Overall, they’ve won 26 consecutive games outright as a double-digit favorite dating back to last season.

Watched the 2011 S16 highlights against Duke again yesterday and the close out in the 2nd half was just awesome to behold. That was a great team that beat a #1 Duke seed. It would be incredible to see us overcome Duke tomorrow. BTFD.

One of my favorite games, coming out of the rough couple of years after Olson retired and watching us demolish Duke in the second half was great!

And really should have made it to the FF as well if we had hit those open look 3's at the end vs UCONN

I remember being told by someone sitting under that basket that, when Horne shot the shot Kemba, who was generally under the basket himself, said “in” indicating to his teammates the shot was going in and they’d need to inbound fast and get going.

So we aren’t the only ones that thought that one was bottom of the net bound.

One of my favorite games, coming out of the rough couple of years after Olson retired and watching us demolish Duke in the second half was great!

And really should have made it to the FF as well if we had hit those open look 3's at the end vs UCONN

Big game today, lets go!
Horne's shot looked so in...

I remember exactly where I was and how I felt during and after that shot.
Yeah it was a tough one.

I hear doctors are the worst patients.
All true.

Basically I told my pmd what I wanted because I can’t do it for myself.
I’m the best type of patient because I know I don’t know shit.

“So Doc, you’re saying that Tennis Asshole is the reason for my heartburn and the only remedy is to give you the PIN number to my bank account? Well, you went to med school and I didn’t so here you go!”
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Is it unusual for a doctor to send a Facebook friend request after a colonoscopy?
