Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

To me, that would seem like the way to get a handle on this yearly free-for-all
The argument is that if an engineering student can pick up and transfer to another school that has a program better aligned with his or her interests, why shouldn’t an athlete be able to?
... will never happen.

And why wasn't it reported as AZ big man Conrad Martinez enters the portal?

Re: Transfer Palooza Thread
Compiling a couple posts here, less because of any narrative on this board, but more a narrative I see a few other places and it just irks me...
When discussing Henri, there's a difference between individual production and amplifying the effectiveness of multiple lineups and a system.
Henri amplifies because he has an NBA skill set. He may not rebound like Rudy Gobert, but he's a C who is a legit connector, finisher, and provides versatility on defense which allows us to run all our ball screen coverages.
I know the cool thing is to say, who cares, he's not THAT good, wait till you see the end roster, we can find a replacement, ect.
Henri fits better than any C Lloyd has had here on both ends of the floor. I don't want to give that, including the continuity, up because we can "replace" his individual production.
To boil it down evener further. You could tell, or at least I could, immediately that Henri knows how to operate in space, within our system, has elite PNR footwork, spacial awareness and recognition, plus the context of when to roll, see a short roll opportunity coming, all while keeping himself open to the ball in PNR, ebbing and flowing with off the ball handlers probing and reaction from the defense, in order to stay big, and receive a pass, read a lob, ect.
These are all minute skills that compound on each other. You want to see the difference between Henri and virtually any other C in the conference? See the above. Again, even further. Go watch Henri do the above, and then watch any tape on Eman, hell even Awaka. That's the cavernous size gap we are talking about by simply adding anyone who can replace production (not saying Eman could).

I think those skills are why the team played better after MK went down. It just opened up more options. I obviously don't have the verbiage that Clip has but I get that it isn't just as simple as "henri is better than MK".

100% you saw the offense open up, and the defensive coverages became more multiple.Postmaster wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 8:39 pm I think those skills are why the team played better after MK went down. Our offense began to hum this season when Lloyd paired Henri and Carter with Love, Bradley and KJ. The offense was lifted (nearly all action happening above the FT line), the floor spread, driving lanes opened, and Henri began to unlock pressure defenses with his passing and short roll ability.
Now think of the other side of the floor. We don't need to sit in a drop, we can blitz and put 2 on the ball, we can hedge, and we can switch 1-5 against certain teams.
Good luck finding someone who can do all that, and then he began to hit 3s as well.
Look, he's not the savior, but as I said previously, hes a force multiplier on both ends of the floor. He's a great fit for what we want to do, and our personnel, even despite his flaws.
