Dang, would have loved seeing him blossom with us but wish him well, like all of our ex-Cats, in the pros.

Apparently it's not over yet:

Sounds like his people wanted the announcement to be more of a big deal than just an off-hand quote.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Good. I prefer a firm No to a flaccid Maybe.

What is Scheer saying with that in your opinion? Is he reporting anything?

Carter has been gone ever since he entered the draft so he's not really saying anything important. Just thought it was amusing that he's apparently not officially gone.

It must be nice to use the Cats as leverage, although I doubt any GM would believe them given where he is slotted

Thanks AzCatG.

Bryant is, appropriately and officially, trying to do everything he can to maximize/improve his position in the draft. If Scheer isn’t saying anything then I guess its a waste of bits and bytes but it read to me like: 1. He is clinging to his prior reporting that there remains a legitimate chance of Bryant returning to Arizona and/or 2. Is trying to drum up posts/activity on his board by getting everyone’s hopes up.

Is it normal now for reporters/media members to put out tweets/posts that dont mean anything?

Seems weird.

I take it as his team wants to control the messaging. He hasn't 100% declared yet even though everyone knows he's gone so I get that Scheer just wanted to state the "true" current status.

Nobody is or should get their hopes up.

No one is "official" until the withdraw date has passed.

In this day and age clicks and hits is how you make money, so it doesn't seem weird at all to me. Just the new normal of journalism.

I also agree with EastCoast about Carter's camp wanting to control the narrative, and Scheer wanting to tweet the most accurate information he has.

Is that why Scheer couldnt tell you 3 weeks ago that Bryant had moved up and was gonzo?

FTR I have long wondered why Scheer couldnt tell us what was going on during the offseason.

It's the way Lloyd and staff operates. Hell when Miller was in charge, me, a literal dipshit that goes by ChooChooCat, knew about Kerr Kriisa roughly 3-4 months before he became an official commitment. Miller and his staff weren't shy about sharing info. Lloyd is just very secretive. A detail or two will come out of the bag early from time to time, like how our Carter replacement is an international prospect for instance, but you never get the full story until it's 100% done now basically. Scheer probably will find out a day or two prior to it becoming public.

Interesting thanks. Memory feels the same to me during the Miller years as well, however. But maybe memory fails. Seems like every off season its “Arizona expects him back” or “he is in or he is out”, then things start to unravel, Scheer pivots a bit, but it takes a poster (used to frequently be me, and would have again w/r/t Carter this offseason if I still posted on WA) to let everyone know that Jimmy Buckets isnt coming back. Never really understood why this subject was an outlier for him.
