Thanks coach!
Re: Game 16, at Oregon St.
37% shooting
Re: Game 16, at Oregon St.
I think we had better prepare for the most disappointing, underachieving season for Arizona basketball since 2004.
This loss was entirely mental. As Katzenfreund pointed out, a shocking lack of leadership on display tonight, and from players three years in the program.

Re: Game 16, at Oregon St.
One of the biggest issues is that we lost Nick and Aaron and no one has really stepped into their roles or gotten better.
Stanley is nice to have, but he isn't nearly as good as Nick or Gordon yet.
RHJ isn't better than last year. Maybe defensively, but not scoring the ball.
Zeus is not better.
TJ has come up big, but he is what he is.
Ashley is back but he seems more concerned about developing his outside shot for the NBA than defending or taking charge on the interior.
I don't know. Just seems like we have taken major steps backwards from last year.

Without a doubt. They will zone us, we miss some baskets, they hit some 3's. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the new Cinderella.loomer wrote:They'll see how successful a simple 2-3 zone wasWildcatStunner wrote:The way we are playing a mid major would feast on us in the opening round.

Did any of them lose to teams as bad as Oregon State?AZCatGirl wrote:Guess all the other top 10 teams that lost are done too.PieceOfMeat wrote:And when we lose in the elite 8, or maybe even before that round, you will be able to point back at games like this one and unlv and demonstrate how our glaring weaknesses were present all year.AZCatGirl wrote:It was a road game in January. Zeus has regressed. His numbers are pretty much down across the board, especially reboundingbillk78 wrote:One of the biggest issues is that we lost Nick and Aaron and no one has really stepped into their roles or gotten better.

Yes Rutgers is bad
Re: Game 16, at Oregon St.
And the worst part is that the defense actually gave up the game-winning shot after forcing the tie. Haven't seen that since the Sweet 16 two seasons ago.
Face it: The zone once again made our studs out to be the impatient, psychologically immature diva recruits more than a few of them are. We got Tinkled.

Rutgers beating Wisconsin is probably worse. At the least just as bad.WildcatStunner wrote:Did any of them lose to teams as bad as Oregon State?AZCatGirl wrote:Guess all the other top 10 teams that lost are done too.

There has to be concern over the development of players from year to year. Now I know it's still a bit early...but honestly can we say anyone has improved from last year?loomer wrote:Zeus has regressed. I know people are killing Zeus, but him and Ashley needed to be on the floor for defense on that final possession for for Or State. If they are in I don't think that drive to the bucket happens.catgrad97 wrote:And the worst part is that the defense actually gave up the game-winning shot after forcing the tie. We don't get that excuse. All we have is a bunch of athletes that can't shoot and shooters who are supposed to be good but not so much.loomer wrote:Rutgers is worse but Kaminsky didn't playAZCatGirl wrote:Rutgers beating Wisconsin is probably worse. Wasn't WI missing Kaminsky? Losing to Oregon St would be more forgivable if we were missing a player... any player even...

But in my book, you gotta get to White Castle before the weirdos show up!

Re: Game 16, at Oregon St.
Frankly, I think Miller had the guys on the floor who he felt deserved a shot at winning the game.billk78 wrote:I know people are killing Zeus, but him and Ashley needed to be on the floor for defense on that final possession for for Or State. Not having Ashley or Zeus out there late leads me to believe he would be in agreement with our assessments of their efforts tonight.
Yeah, York stunk on ice from the perimeter too, but he's no longer a starter and doesn't have the expectation anymore of being that deadeye outside shooter, because he's not.
People are killing Zeus because he's a seven-foot behemoth who outsized everyone on the court yet couldn't get a single rebound. That is pathetic.
Re: Game 16, at Oregon St.
It's not chicken littles when it's all 100% true. I'll be surprised if we lose less than 6-7 games before the tourney and if we even make it to the sweet 16. May not even be a top 4 seed at this rate.Reydituto wrote:Kinda fun watching the Chicken Littles and Debbie Downers frolic in the rain ...
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

No, but it shows the best team doesn't always win. Obviously the way we played tonight was horrible, but there's still time to correct some of the issues. If we still look this bad near the end of the season I'll start lowering my expectations.PieceOfMeat wrote:So they were the only team with bad losses and glaring weaknesses?
