TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers

Re: TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers
Man I hope he gets a fair chance in making it in the league. Whoever thought Steve Kerr would have had such a great career in the nba. Whatever happens I see TJ as a top coach in college with a similar trajectory as coach miller.

Re: TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers
What I don't get is that TJ's only press used to be the little he got by comparison to Aaron Kraft as a white guard with a short brown hair. Now that Kraft got his last media blow job after his first-round loss, TJ gets no attention in the national media, even while he shows himself to be maybe the best guard in all of college basketball, and far surpassing anything Kraft ever showed on the court.

Yeah, I have to agree. Not that Wright helped his own case today.Zero wrote:Wrapped up POY today.

I cannot believe they lost to Washington. I think we broke them.

TJ is simply one of the best point guards ever to wear an Arizona uniform.84Cat wrote:

Sealed up POY
And yes, we broke utah. They were lucky to get by WSU the other night too. They need to get their mojo back in the conference tourny

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

The look of humility and stiff face trying to hold back tears when he kisses the A is so very real.84Cat wrote:
A lot of people do that kind of stuff. You could see a softball sized lump in his throat when he did it. He meant every bit of the sometimes hollow gesture.
I really want this kid to find a way to keep playing...overseas, somewhere. Sadly, wherever he winds up will likely be a step down from McKale and being a Cat, at least in how crowd support goes. But I really want someone to pay this guy to keep playing...
And if it is not in the cards, a grad assistant job under Miller would be cool, too...a stepping stone to a true coaching lineage....

This stuff drives me nuts. I'll never quite GET. Re: TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers
Time zone amd regional passion. Everyone could watch when Kraft played. Fans and media more into college hoops outside the West. LA and Bay Area are the dominant media markets in the West. They don't pay much attention to college hoops in general. Best teams are in Tucson and Spokane. The passion in those towns is not reflected elsewhere in the West.CBCat wrote:This stuff drives me nuts. I'll never quite GET. if it weren't for Wildcat and Zag fans, those conference tournaments would be busts.

Kevin Pangos just won it in the WCC, though Wiltjer, Haws and many others scored a lot more. Pangos, 11.6 and 5 assists.
I think it should be TJ, but predict it will be Wright.
Right where I want to be.

At least TJ got some type of honor today.

Re: TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers
How nice is it to have TJ?!? He is going to will us to victory every single game or die trying. He's so improved from last year...confident, shooting well, composed. Great freakin game by TJ.

That is about as good of a performance of Cat in a tournament game that I can remember. And what a time for it with the poor shooting by Ash, RHJ and SJ.azgreg wrote:19 points on 8/13 shooting

Re: TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers
Somebody like Steve Kerr might bring him in and use him on the practice squad and see if they can develope his 3 shot alittle better

This would be ideal. This or Europe for 3/4 years and then make an NBA attempt as veteran or Miller assistant.azcat49 wrote:Somebody like Steve Kerr might bring him in and use him on the practice squad and see if they can develope his 3 shot alittle better

It's a damn shame he wasn't ever really nationally discussed as a top all-american. He's easily one of the best college basketball players in the country. He's fucking nails. At least the world will know now hopefully.rgdeuce wrote:Makes me so GD mad he didnt win POY and nobody thinks hes an All American. This has been TJ all year

On Sportscenter they just said TJ had just the sixth game of at least 15 pts, 5 reb, 5
Assist and 5 steals in NCAA tournament history

are there any player of the year awards left to hand out?
or just the ncaa tourny mop?
or just the ncaa tourny mop?
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
Re: TJ McConnell's 'MAGIC' Numbers
I will say...Joseph Young has stepped his game up since winning the POY. Thing is, so has TJ, if that is even possible.
It's a pretty fun non-story to watch...both guys are coming up huge. I have a lot of respect for Young...I don't think he should have won the POY, but I respect his game and how he handled the post-award media.
It's like Dueling Baskets....

A variation of the stat noted that TJ was the second Pac-12 player to do that, joining Jason Kidd.
