Yup. Go have them play Rutgers near a dirty New Jersey boardwalk. Not our problem anymore.MountainCat wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:15 am What’s the deal with UCLA and USC saying the beach volleyball teams will stay in the PAC. If the PAC stays together, there is no way we allow them to stay after being so secretive about this move. When your out, your out.
Why? Any long trips would be offset by home gamesASUHATER! wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:59 am We would be at such a huge scheduling disadvantage if true
Big-10 doesn’t have beach volleyball.KillerKlown wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:23 amYup. Go have them play Rutgers near a dirty New Jersey boardwalk. For football it would be 2 times probably a year. Very doablePostmaster wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:26 am Because we would have to fly out there 6-8 times and they fly west 1-2 times
….and if you choose to leave the conference, you get to drop the sport programs your new conference doesn’t have. Maybe they should have negotiated that before the surprise announcement.OSUCat wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:27 amBig-10 doesn’t have beach volleyball.KillerKlown wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:23 amYup. That doesn’t seem like a concern for PAC.OSUCat wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:27 amBig-10 doesn’t have beach volleyball.KillerKlown wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:23 amYup. Why would we only have 2 road games?PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:30 amFor football it would be 2 times probably a year. Very doablePostmaster wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:26 am Because we would have to fly out there 6-8 times and they fly west 1-2 times
I doubt UA would be the only ACC school west of Florida State if that happenedPostmaster wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:35 amWhy would we only have 2 road games?PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:30 amFor football it would be 2 times probably a year. And to that point who cares what academic standing any new prospective school has if it's all about revenue generation now?CopaCat wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:34 amAre they actually even students anymore with NIL(at least in the the big revenue sports)? The whole NCAA just needs to become a semi professional league with school work/degrees optional. Maybe just eliminate the Conference affliations all together and just have a pool of high revenue producing schools separated by region. That is where the all mighty dollar has taken us. Travesty in every way and basically the destruction of true college athletics.
Did anyone dispute that it wasn't? I think it was more of I'm not spending my money and time on a worthless product like Arizona football. I personally wasted a lot of time watching Arizona football late at night on the east coast and now in the central time zone and that will likely continue. However, I can't blame anyone for giving up.PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:25 am I tried to tell you how important tv ratings and attendance were for years......
At this point it's probably the smart move, as painful as the idea is of leaving the west coast and our rivals and traditions. If we want to survive we now have to pull the eject handle on this dying conference ASAP. I hate it but it's the only logical move.
The PAC could not pull those Big 12 schools before UCLA USC Oregon and Washington left. How can they get them now?IndianaZonaFan wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:03 pm Arizona

I thought the PAC12 said no when the BIG12 was scrambling after Texas and OU left. However, this was when USC/UCLA were still "committed" to the PAC.PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:07 pmThe PAC could not pull those Big 12 schools before UCLA USC Oregon and Washington left. PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:47 am What would you rather be in? Big 12 or a new PAC with the 8 current members (Oregon and Washington gone) and 6 MWC teams added? Say Fresno St, San Diego St, Wyoming, Boise St, UNLV and Nevada
I saw from a trusted source that the PAC-12 has been trying for months to add Big 12 schools.DrWildcat wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:10 pmI thought the PAC12 said no when the BIG12 was scrambling after Texas and OU left. I think Big 12 would be better, I am just asking the question.azcat49 wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:14 pmPHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:47 am What would you rather be in? Not sure if you are serious in thinking this alignment would garner much interest from TV?
We would be further down the revenue ladder then we already are. If the Big 10 gets Notre Dame then every school can bank 150m a year with the LA schools along with ND.
We have to go balls out for the Big 10. The Big 12 is a lateral move at best and might keep us competitive for awhile but this landscape clearly shows the future will be about 60 schools and most will be in two or three conferences. That alignment you proposed would not be included in that top 60 IMO
Yeah, fuck those turncoatscpt wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:36 pm Remind me again how all these years I was supposed to be rooting for USC and UCLA against non-Pac12 competition because it was good for the conference?
ACC would still have Duke, UNC, Cuse, L'ville, UVA, Wake, V-Tech...that's a hoops conference we'd absolutely want to be part of.PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:00 pm ACC is gonna get poached too. Clemson, Florida State will be going to the SEC as will another couple as well
In terms of realignment basketball is maybe 20% of the issue. Football is 80%Beachcat97 wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:24 pmACC would still have Duke, UNC, Cuse, L'ville, UVA, Wake, V-Tech...that's a hoops conference we'd absolutely want to be part of.PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:00 pm ACC is gonna get poached too. Neither. It's Big 10, SEC, possibly ACC or bust. These other conferences will all be 2nd tier at some point and the recruiting disadvantages of being 2nd tier will ruin our athletic programs. Not to mention a much much smaller opportunity to ever have a shot at National Championships. That is why this whole thing is a frigging joke. Barely even worth caring about college athletics anymore unless your school is economic powerhouse. Oh and Fuck Larry Scott for being a lazy parasite with no foresight whatsoever.PHXCATS wrote: Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:47 am What would you rather be in?
