Panama canal opened for business. At only the cost of 5600 lives and $8,600,000,000 and putting American troops into several neighboring countries for 20+ years!

100 years ago today, the war to end all wars ended. Where we are with Trump can directly be traced to 100 years ago.

I swear we had a today in history thread but I can't find it. But 47 years ago today the US government sponsored and let happen a right wing military coup against a democratically elected government in Chile simply because they were slightly left leaning. This of course ushered in a couple decades of basically military dictatorship where thousands of people were disappeared.
