61 Days Coach Alonzo Carter
Carter was finally pulled out of Northern California to become Arizona's new Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs Coach. Pause and think about it a second. We have 2 former head coaches and Duane Akina on staff and Coach Brennan brought Carter with him from SJSU to be his Assistant Head Coach. I think that is a clear indicator of how much Coach Brennan wanted Carter on the staff.
He has spent most of his career as a head coach. Carter spent 11 years as a high school head coach and 6 years as the head coach of Contra Costa College going 129-69-3 as a head coach. Carter joined SJSU in 2017 as the Running Backs Coach and he became the Assistant Head Coach in 2021. He is considered an outstanding coach and recruiter and Carter is the only professional dancer and grammy winner on staff.
BYU led the Big12 by averaging 61 penalty yards by their opponents each game. Arizona would have led the league since our opponents averaged 63.5 penalty yards per game.
