Well that was a terrible half. Outside of JJ, the offense has been garbage. The Oline can't pass block and Tate can't make a read to save his life. Might as well throw Gunnel out there, not sure it will get much better though.
I have no idea how the Oline is suppose to protect Tate. He rolled into pressure for probably 3 of the sacks, and ducks his head if he thinks there is pressure. You can’t creat a natural pocket because Tate doesn’t step forward in the pocket.

While this is generally true, guys are also coming unblocked.

Much like last week they are throwing a lot of blind side blizes. He needs to throw the ball in the direction of the blitz. The slant to the inside receiver on that side should be wide open.
Good game so far. I don't like the score but our defense is doing a nice job of containing them, and I like the protection Tate is getting from his offensive line. Sumlin shouldn't make any changes, and I don't agree with giving Gunnel any run because in the second half, I think those shots will start falling, and that will help stretch the Trojans' defense. If we can get the ball to Gettings at the top of the key, he'll break the zone by finding Jeter underneath. Also, this isn't isn't Green's game. Get Hazzard in there camping out behind the arc for the kick-out.

I figured out a big reason why Tate is so bad at passing. When he drops back, he won't sit in the pocket. He reaches the end of his 3-step drop, and then feels the need to run back and sideways, regardless of the pressure that's actually on him. That screws the timing of the routes, and means he's almost guaranteed not to find an open reciever execept if by chance they come open on his side of the field, and close to the L.O.S.

Well see, I have expectations that Gunnell will improve. Tate will not. And he will not be here next year either. He'll go be bad somewhere else. So I don't mind him taking some lumps against USC. Let's have him start next game, though. No point in wasting time with Tate.
