Anderson is our best player. Zeus and Anderson is a formidable front court.

Anderson is doing all he can to will us through. Someone else needs to be huge down the stretch.

There's a splash from York City.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
That can't be a regular gameplan, senior or no senior.dirtbags wrote:i'm expecting gabe to find his stroke around the last media timeout, per usual
He and Tollefsen are responsible for virtually all of the 4-5-point swings this young season. They need to start playing like seniors.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Tolly needs to sit.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Man Tollefsen late in the game is a disaster. Two games in a row he made a game changing error.

20 turnovers...jesus

When Tollefson makes these mental errors why does he get to stay in the game? Trier, a freshman, makes one mistake and he sits for 10 minutes.

Instead, this team makes more. Chemistry may not be a problem, but IQ definitely is on this team.

Trier has 4 TOs in less minutes, Tolly only has 1.billk78 wrote:When Tollefson makes these mental errors why does he get to stay in the game? Trier, a freshman, makes one mistake and he sits for 10 minutes.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
So much for playing MSU.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Beat ourselves. Just dumb dumb mistakes. Gotta get their heads in these games if we want to do anything this year.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Bunch of fuckin mental midgets on this team.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Can't wait for the "good loss" crowd to come out.

At least Trier can score though. Tolly is just a body.Merkin wrote:Trier has 4 TOs in less minutes, Tolly only has 1.billk78 wrote:When Tollefson makes these mental errors why does he get to stay in the game? Trier, a freshman, makes one mistake and he sits for 10 minutes.

You don't get away with playing stupid two nights in a row.
Especially not without your four-year starting seven-footer.
Decidedly un-end-of-game-like performance by our team, though. 18-7 run by Providence the final 8 minutes, I believe.

I think going to OT last night caught up with us near the end. I don't think we make as many dumb mistakes if we're fresher.

This team doesn't secure or protect the ball at all. Awful.

That would really have been a beatdown. Dunn killed Arizona in only 21 minutes.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Good point....but there were a lot of mental errors early on too. Stepping on the baseline. Fighting our own guys for rebounds and knocking it out. Horrible passes. Chucking up 3s. Low basketball IQs.AZCatGirl wrote:I think going to OT last night caught up with us near the end. I don't think we make as many dumb mistakes if we're fresher.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Without a doubt the most unforced turnovers I have ever seen a team make. Arizona literally handed them the game with the most ridiculous boneheaded turnovers. Of course several came at crunch time.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Tollefsen can't put up five points and three rebounds with the kind of minutes he's getting.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
We been making mistakes on back to back games. This team is just reckless with the ball and tries to do too damn muchAZCatGirl wrote:I think going to OT last night caught up with us near the end. I don't think we make as many dumb mistakes if we're fresher.
Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
This team has several issues:
1) Very few players who can actually make their own shot one-one-one
2) Too many athletic stiffs (Tolly, Pitts, Ristic)
Going to be a long, hard year

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
and toll's responsible for more than we see on the statline, though -- e.g., misses interior pass from kadeem (TO charged to KA); turning ball over in late game scenarios; etc.billk78 wrote:At least Trier can score though. Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Our guards didn't make cuts in the offense or have any certainty in running it virtually the whole game. Can't blame going OT the night before on that, not with college kids.AZCatGirl wrote:I think going to OT last night caught up with us near the end. Intelligent leadership is really going to be a problem with this team. York still doesn't understand who he can stop, who he can't and when to shoot, and whoever hyped up the Mark Tollefsen transfer should face a civil lawsuit for fraud. Dude makes you wish for the mental acuity of Jamelle Horne.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Remember when Pitts was a 3 point gunner? Now he is a defensive specialist who can't score a point.dmjcat wrote:This team has several issues:

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
For some reason Miller really likes Tolefsen if you're going by minutes though. And he's always in late in the game. Is it because everyone else is worse? Heck, give Comanche more minutes at this point.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
I thought Ristic was better tonight and was the victim of some awful calls. But I agree with the OP that he's pretty stiff and unathletic.3goggles wrote:I thought ristic played well!dmjcat wrote:This team has several issues:

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
And I hate to say I warned you guys about Pitts, but he really is becoming another Zane Johnson for this team.
Any of our guards could be so much more, though, if they just ran the damn offense and quit standing around waiting for York to go ISO. Nobody save Anderson goes to the hole aggressively enough for us, on or off the ball.
Ristic did in spurts, and good things happened. But cutting to the hole was a problem even with Ashley and Rondae on possessions, and it looks to be worse with this team.
Considering the lower defensive ceiling and shot insecurity, this is going to test our fan loyalty at times.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Miller said we went out there expecting to win. You'd think after last night they wouldn't overlook Providence, but I guess not. Maybe losing will get the message across.

Re: Game 6, vs Providence, at Wooden Legacy (2015-2016)
Zeus or no Zeus, we commit even the three less turnovers we had last night against Santa Clara, and we win.
As good a loss for us as it's going to get, if this team is going to learn and get better.

So, having slept through this game, it would appear I didn't miss much.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Too tired and sick to comment.
Great to see the CATS and Miller in person for the first time in years, and that was probably the highlight of the night. Some other highlights, but too tired to recap ATM.
