I'll be in attendance, nice and close near our bench. Ready for a bounce-back game and a final win before Pac play starts.

The ivy league on ivy league rage paying dividends.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

I thought I read Gettings cleared the protocol and was back for St. John's. Now I can't find it. Did I dream that?

I think he cleared protocol but maybe the vision in his eye hasn't cleared up?

Cats -11 and it seems we haven’t covered a game in a long while. Would be a nice way to start the holiday weekend

It will be interesting to see how we match up to the 40 minutes of hell. Should be a good test for us

Unfortunately Mannion hasn't responded well, so a really big game for him.84Cat wrote:It will be interesting to see how we match up to the 40 minutes of hell. Should be a good test for us

If his shots aren't falling he needs to find other ways to help the team. His assist to turnover ratio is fantastic. He's still adjusting to the increased speed and physicality of the college game. And Miller's expectation for him to play good defense on a consistent basis. The best is definitely yet to come with Mannion. Looking forward to it.

I hope Nico can find a way to coast enough to heal up but stay on the floor and run the team. Back spasms are a freakout, they're not just a pain you can play through. They're kind of mysterious and often don't respond to treatment. Hope it doesn't get in his head.

Re: (M) Game 13, Arizona vs St. John's (2019-2020)
Went and checked out Johnny board (St Johns fans)...the majority of them are saying Cats win...I dunno...I like our teams slowly evolving consistency...I think people like Baker are under-rated in terms of stabilizing influence...hopefully Dylan Smith has a good night defensively and Nico's shots are falling...if those two things happen and we rebound like we did against Gonzaga we win by 20...
Turnovers early are expected...St. Johns runs a pretty mean press that is quite flexible and versatile...we'll see Nico tested tonite...
If we keep turnovers to 10 or below we win easy. If they climb up into the teens we might be in trouble.

Re: (M) Game 13, Arizona vs St. John's (2019-2020)
I think that one of the biggest issues facing Nico is just adjusting to the much more athletic (and longer) competition compared to what he faced in HS. Nico had serious issues in the McDonalds game (Cole Anthony) and the last two teams we faced (Baylor & Gonzaga) had long athletic guards who focused on stopping him. Nico definitely got frustrated with Woolridges defense in the Gonzaga game. Unfortunately, Nico is going to face a whole host of long athletic guards in the PAC12. He needs to slow down and use screens, or just pass the ball if he can't beat his man off the dribble.Merkin wrote:Unfortunately Mannion hasn't responded well, so a really big game for him.84Cat wrote:It will be interesting to see how we match up to the 40 minutes of hell. Personally, I'm also expecting some one-off defenses (sooner or later) aimed at Nico. I won't be shocked if we see a Triangle & Two from someone down the road. The triangle to stop Zeke, and the double on Nico on the perimeter.....the idea being to make Dylan Smith beat you (a somewhat scary thought for me).

Some of those Stanford volleyball players are better looking than those on their cheer squad.

I know we had finals this week, but it doesn't look like we practiced at all.

Yeah Bill, I'm sure Kerr will have a real tough time getting into the game.

How has Sean not called timeout yet?

If Kerr could suit up he would be the best player on the current Arizona team.

Right now we are looking like a team that will really struggle against any quality team we play in conference on the road. Very disappointed with our start and our performance in our marquee games outside of Illinois

Re: (M) Game 13, Arizona vs St. John's (2019-2020)
Once again we do NOT look like a Top 25 team.
This is our last chance to get a decent non-conference win. Lose this and we project to be a 6-8 seed with a 2nd round exit.

Arizona looks slow and John's are flying. Jeter really hurting us. Green looks overmatched. That press when Mannion was out was killer. Need to bounce back,

Still waiting for some sign that Nico is ready. Arizona doesn't have a functional point guard.

I've no doubt our scoring will improve as the game goes on....but....this is typical sean miller basketball to start this game.
we're on pace for 1 point per minute played, after the first 9 minutes of play.
anyone particularly surprised by this hasn't been watching sean miller basketball over the last decade

Perhaps the scheme comes during the halftime waterboarding CSM has to undertake almost every game against good opponents.
