CTL appears to want to build on Miller’s legacy instead of replace it. Best scenario to heal our wounds and get everyone excited about Arizona basketball again.
Which is the way it’s supposed to be.

Was listening to the Rich Herrera show today (gross), and they had on a Gonzaga reporter/writer on there saying he's heard a lot of talk of Fanbo Zeng following Tommy here. Anyone heard anything about that? Fanbo is one hell of a player and would be a great addition

Thank you for this because it struck me. It’s pretty darn close to the same team and staff except Robbins said “fuck you Sean, you’re not welcome.”zonagrad wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 4:12 pmWhich tells me Robbins' decision to fire Miller had nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with on court results and the trajectory of the program. Having said that -- Lloyd deserves fan support and I think he'll get it. In fact, I think most, not all fans, get it: They support the basketball program and the current coach, players, staff, etc...
And they know that Robbins and Heeke are trash.
Robbins is such a colossal prick.

Oh my. We actually got a shot at Fanbo... That kid is a stud. I was reading when he was being recruited he didn't talk to any coaches but Lloyd and never visited the Gonzaga campus. Hard to believe he goes there. Probably between here and staying in China with a slight lean to stay in China. We get Fanbo and Zeng and this class turned out very nice

Re: The 2021-2022 Season Thread
During a daydream next to the gold cart parked outside McKale on Lloyd's first day on the job, he walked out with Robbins and Heeke, and they all got in the golf car. I told him, "Wildcat Nation is behind you." And then I pointed at Robbins and Heeke and said to him, "So you're their boss now. Don't ever forget it." Then I snapped out of the daydream and stopped talking to the empty golf cart. I hope nobody saw.

Someone's going to give him a second round promise/he'd get picked in the second round, right? Is the question just does he take that or not or is there more/something different to it?ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 7:23 pmNBA is going to remain a threat until the very end.

He's probably a 2nd rounder this year with potential to move up based on predraft workouts/measurements. The question is more about pushing to go in the 1st if he returns.SCCats wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 8:09 pmSomeone's going to give him a second round promise/he'd get picked in the second round, right? He’d definitely be picked in the 2nd round regardless of a promise. It’s just up to him if he wants to be a 2nd rounder now or play in an offense more suited for him that could propel him into the 1st round later.SCCats wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 8:09 pmSomeone's going to give him a second round promise/he'd get picked in the second round, right? I've heard some schools are dropping some major bags to people around Mathurin.

If that’s true then the people/schools should be named and discussed. Hell, let’s talk about wires and what was said on the phone...allegedly of course.

I'm not sure any school recruiting top players wants that. No one's clean, so you start outing people and it comes right back.
And we're probably in more trouble to begin with than anyone we could out.

It's been said a million times the offers don't really change. Top programs offer what they're gonna, and the odd part is that actual recruiting wins because the money is the same.
So, let it happen and don't be shy.

In that case, I agree. This is clearly the wild wild west with every player, whether in the portal or not, being treated as a free agent being contacted by anyone who thinks they have a better offer, but gets no pay (on paper).ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 12:06 pmI’m just speaking in general. The NCAA isn’t going to investigate in any thing unless the FBI forces their hand. Btw in the theoretical world where Arizona doesn’t land Tyty and doesn’t like any transfer portal PGs, someone on the behalf of Arizona (not employed by Arizona) should be reaching out to “unavailable” options. I don’t love it, but god dammit that’s the game. To his credit Lloyd has done a great job fighting against the game in keeping his roster intact. His job isn’t done yet in that matter though.zonagrad wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 6:59 amThis is the shit the NCAA should investigate. Lloyd could’ve done the best sell job in the world and Akinjo was always leaving. He was loyal to Miller first and Peters second. It wasn’t worth putting up the fight and he was already in contact with Tyty before he even officially got the job.

Still can't figure out how Akinjo does not have to sit out a year. The rules are very clear, the free transfer year only applies to those who are not prior transfer students.

Situation matters too. He’s handed the keys from day one at Arizona, it’s an hour and a half drive from home, the team will be very good still, and the name Arizona still means plenty. Lloyd will deserve a ton of credit of course, but the situation for Tyty here is extremely favorable to Arizona's chances and there’s still a chance that it may not be enough.Alieberman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 10:41 amIf a head coach with zero head coaching experience could edge out Kansas and Kentucky for a top recruit in his 1st year.... this guy might have somethingChooChooCat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 10:39 amHe was never going there anyways.

Plus, Miller had been recruiting Tyty to some extent already. That's not to take away from what Lloyd would have to do in terms of selling himself as a new HC, but it isn't a situation where he had to build from the ground up.
Murphy was his lead recruiter, so it really is just selling a new HC and pretty much everything else remains the same.
