Lots of PAC-12 employees were out on Saturday night after the game. The regular people. To hear their stories is just heartbreaking. Really feel bad for them and they dont deserve people dancing to the grave of the PAC-12

Taking in some of the beach volleyball today, I'll miss having Olympic sports on in the background while I'm folding laundry.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Re: Thee Pac2 Network
Not sure where to put this.
I heard the 10 teams that are leaving are each paying 5 million for leaving and another 1.5 million for something else.
So the last two teams will be splitting 65 million.
Also the 10 are foregoing any claims to any future money the conference might get. (Not sure where that would come from)

Oregon State and Washington State have finalized a settlement over financial distributions with the 10 schools leaving the Pac-12.
The departing schools will have $5 million withheld during the 2024 fiscal year for a total of $50 million under the deal announced Monday. The departing schools also will each pay a $1.5 million "supplemental contribution" to the conference that will be used by the remaining schools to navigate an uncertain future.
The departing members will not be entitled to any revenue generated after this year and will have no "vote, direction input or other power with the conference's use, allocation of expenditure of the supplemental contribution."
The settlement was agreed to in principle late last year.
"We are pleased to finalize an agreement with OSU and WSU that provides support for all our student-athletes while ensuring an equal distribution of the vast majority of funds earned by all 12 schools during the 2023-24 academic year," the 10 schools that are leaving said in a statement. "Under this agreement, our schools will have the right to vote on matters that affect all 12 schools this year, while OSU and WSU will have control over future Conference revenue and decisions."
The Pac-12 unraveled when 10 members opted to leave the conference for new leagues next year, leaving only Oregon State and Washington State.
The conference's remaining members will have a scheduling alliance with the Mountain West Conference for at least 2024, possibly beyond. The schools will join the West Coast Conference as affiliate members in every sport except football and baseball the next two years.

So outside of their normal cut for 2024 WSU and OSU will receive $65mil from the departing schools. Is that how I’m reading it?

Re: Thee Pac2 Network
Yes, but that's only a drop in the bucket compared to future PAC revenues. For example, this year's tourney money won't get distributed until starting next season, and for 5 more years after that. Believe Lonzano said that will be $190M additional. So if I understand correctly, the UA will not make a dime if they win the Natty.

No doubt he has a tremendous amount of confidence if he thinks he can compete in the Big 10 after all the departures.
Along with WSU receiving a huge windfall from the PAC, and UW only get 50% share from the Big 10 to start.

Re: Thee Pac2 Network
UA is getting a full share from media rights next season ($31.7M), so I imagine so. Currently more than UW and UO will be getting from the Big 10, but that will change by 2030 when the PNW schools get full shares. USC and UCLA get full shares immediately.

Watching the baseball team yesterday vs UCLA and saw something I have never seen before.
The announcer left the game because he had to catch a flight and the last inning was in complete silence except for the crowd noise.
Seemed fitting in a way. You fully expected him to say, “last guy out turn out the lights”

Re: Thee Pac2 Network
The announcer, Brian Webber, says he was going to a sunrise Easter service with his family, which almost sounds like a good excuse, if it's even true. But, I'm pretty damned sure he could have worked it out with later flights, regardless. And he's responsible for making those overly tight arrangements when he contracted to do a live TV broadcast. You can't anticipate that a game with third-day college pitchers might run long? But, what a perfect parable for the network, and yeah, I'd expect more of it down the stretch. Broadcast personnel don't have to worry that pissing off the execs at the Pac-12 network will hurt their careers. And next season, our revenue sports will mostly be on the ESPNs and the Fox networks. Our non-revenue stuff will stream on ESPN3, just like most P4 schools.

Pac 12 aired a goodbye video after baseball's win tonight to close out the network.
While we got a nice shot of Sean Miller cutting down the nets and the Hill Mary play, there were also two shots of men's basketball getting upset at the buzzer, because that did seem to define our time on the network.

Re: Thee Pac2 Network
They are. I guess it would be more fair to say it was the last play of the Pac 12 as a power conference. There's no way even in a rebuild the Pac 12 can ever be a power conference again.
