I disagree. LeBron won’t play forever and letting him construct the team in return for his open praise of the coaching job he is doing would have given Hurley the leeway to weather the coming post-Lebron rebuild.

I honestly think you’re a fool if you turn down the Lakers job whether LeBron is there or not.

It’s a double whammy for me as a Laker fan. Getting shit from UConn fans that Hurley prefers Storrs over LA.

It's a blue blood program and arguably the top program in the country right now. I don't think Hurley's decision is as surprising as some are making it sound. Coach K turned down the Lakers as well. For similar reasons.

If the Knicks job opens up soon, that's the one I think Hurley will leave for.

The current Knick coach makes around $7M. That will increase when he resigns but it won't necessarily be a bump in salary that makes him change for a NBA type job. Maybe he wants something different but his coaching style won't play well with players making 4-5 times as much money as you are.

Like Steve Kerr has said, he will never coach college ball. Don't have to deal with recruiting and the myriad of NCAA rules.

When Lute retired, he said the only thing he wouldn't miss is recruiting.

TC, Hurley has already made his intention to coach in the NBA very public. The Lakers are just a shit show, and he probably avoided an ice berg. When the right east coast job opens up, he'll have greater interest.

Who will be the next head coach at Indiana? Mike Woodson is not a good coach.

If there isn’t a For Sale sign up in front of his house, there should be one.

If Hubert Davis gets canned, do we need to worry about Tommy to UNC?

Just don’t see CTL having fun in Cajun land. Might be wrong but 5m a year seems to be enough

Normally for North Carolina I would always be concerned but with NIL who knows what the plum jobs are

Tommy seems a lot more Lute than Fisch. UK offered Lute a nice raise.

Lute was so poorly paid at Arizona that even after winning a natty, he made less than Mike Stoops who hadn't been a head coach at any level.

Lute was all class. When I was a kid in Iowa, he was getting hassled when he and Bobbi went out. He appreciated that Tucson folks would leave them alone.

That’s why he came out here. Money wasn’t the issue, it was lifestyle.

My youngest is really good friends with Tommy’s daughter. They met during lunch break at CFHS. They became thick as thieves and got along like a house on fire.

She loves Tommy and from what I’ve heard he digs it here and there nowhere else he and his family want to be.

I’d be surprised if he bails for money.

Tommy struck me as a lot like Few where when he likes a place he intends to stay there. I wouldn't be concerned unless some Miller type of fuckery happens again.

Also, now that Gonzaga is going to the Pac 12, it makes it a much less attractive job. lol

The only thing Tommy would have in common with coaching at Mathew Knight arena would be Dana Altman's bald spot.

Had that already with Fisch.

On Lute living the lifestyle there, I recall someone, maybe Dick Vitale, sayng that there are only 2 college coaches in America where if they walk into a restaurant everyone stops talking. Lute Olson and Bobby Knight.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

kind of wild to let your hc go after sweeping the kansas schools last week. the ucf road game was pretty ugly but 'tah shot over 50% from the field despite being sloppy with the ball. is utah trying to make an early move with the anticipated coaching changes coming this offseason, or what?

What a fantastic stretch of games.

In 2024, the Wolfpack finished the regular season with a 17–14 overall record and a 9–11 record in the ACC, good for 10th place in the conference. However, Keatts' team rallied to win five games in five days in the ACC Tournament, including wins over No. 15 seed Louisville, No. 7 seed Syracuse, No. 2 seed and No. 11 ranked Duke, No. 3 seed Virginia, and No. 1 seed and No. 4 ranked North Carolina to earn the ACC's automatic NCAA tournament bid.

In the 2024 NCAA Tournament they were placed in the South Region and seeded No. 11. There the Wolfpack defeated No. 6 seed and No. 22 ranked Texas Tech, No. 14 seed Oakland, No. 2 seed and No. 8 ranked Marquette, and No. 4 seed and No. 13 ranked Duke to advance to their first Final Four since 1983, becoming only the sixth ever 11 seed to reach the Final Four.
