Man I hated that team. They were just way too good. Last team to go undefeated the entire season.

Pete Rose has passed. Charlie Hustle was a great, great player but also not very bright.

I actually met / worked with Pete once.
Let's just say he is the polar opposite of a human to Dikembe Mutombo.

Re: RIP Notable Figures
I was never a fan of the Reds, but they sure had some likable players: Johnny Bench, Frank Robinson, Joe Morgan, and so on. Liked Sparky Anderson since he won the World Series with the Tigers. Although he picked the Reds for his uniform in the HOF, but can see that.
But always hated Rose. He was always a dick. Thought MLB was a little hard on him for gambling though. If memory serves, he never gambled against the Reds.

I was never a fan of his, but I think he should be in the hall of fame, along with Shoeless Joe Jackson.

There was also talk that even if he didn't bet against his own team, if he bet on them sometimes it would be a giveaway when he didn't bet on them that someone was hurt or he knew it was a bad matchup for some other reason and would tip off other gamblers.
That being said, as much as I hated him, I think he should be in the HoF for his performance as a player.

Still, if he hadn’t so blatantly lied about it I believe baseball would have reinstated him. But he continued denying all the way up to his death.

Re: RIP Notable Figures
Look at those complete games pitched. Baseball was so different back then.
Also, Fernando was a pretty good hitter and Lasorda would use him as pinch hitter every now and then.
RIP Fernando. You are now in the place you looked up to every time you threw a pitch.

So much hatred and anger in that man and his followers. One of the very first posters I had to block on Twitter so that goes back years.

NEW YORK (AP) — In the long and storied history of New York City basketball, nobody wore it quite like Lou Carnesecca.
The excitable St. John’s coach whose outlandish sweaters became an emblem of his team’s rousing Final Four run in 1985, died at 99 on Saturday, just a few weeks shy of his 100th birthday.

Very sad news. Dana Dimel was an Arizona assistant under Mike Stoops, and the position coach for Rob Gronkowski. Always friendly and open.

Re: RIP Notable Figures
This news saddens me. Ricky was a great player. 3K hits and 2k runs and 1400 SB’s is just amazing. I also don’t remember him getting in trouble much.
Dude married his HS sweetheart and would not spend his meal money. Instead he gave it to his kids when they did something good.
Hope heaven doesn’t have a second base or Ricky will steal it. RIP Ricky

Rest in hell asshole.PARIS (AP) — Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of France’s far-right National Front who was known for fiery rhetoric against immigration and multiculturalism that earned him both staunch supporters and widespread condemnation, has died. He was 96.
A polarizing figure in French politics, Le Pen’s controversial statements — including Holocaust denial and his 1987 proposal to forcibly isolate people with AIDS in special facilities — led to multiple convictions and strained his political alliances.
