I saw them the year prior in Super Bowl VII at the LA Coliseum.

That backfield of Czonka, Kiick and Morris were brutal along with Griese at QB.

Man I hated that team. They were just way too good. Last team to go undefeated the entire season.

Pete Rose has passed. Charlie Hustle was a great, great player but also not very bright.

RIP to Charlie Hustle. But..

I actually met / worked with Pete once.

Let's just say he is the polar opposite of a human to Dikembe Mutombo.

I was never a fan of the Reds, but they sure had some likable players: Johnny Bench, Frank Robinson, Joe Morgan, and so on. Liked Sparky Anderson since he won the World Series with the Tigers. Although he picked the Reds for his uniform in the HOF, but can see that.

But always hated Rose. He was always a dick. Thought MLB was a little hard on him for gambling though. If memory serves, he never gambled against the Reds.

I was never a fan of his, but I think he should be in the hall of fame, along with Shoeless Joe Jackson.

I didn't think it was ever disclosed but seemed accepted that at least once he bet against them. I could be wrong though.

There was also talk that even if he didn't bet against his own team, if he bet on them sometimes it would be a giveaway when he didn't bet on them that someone was hurt or he knew it was a bad matchup for some other reason and would tip off other gamblers.

That being said, as much as I hated him, I think he should be in the HoF for his performance as a player.

He was a thuggish asshole. Fuck him.

I think he bet on his own team, but only to win.

Still, if he hadn’t so blatantly lied about it I believe baseball would have reinstated him. But he continued denying all the way up to his death.

Pretty much every boy of my generation practiced pitching like Tiant.

RIP Fernando Valenzuela

I lived in LA when Fernando Mania made the city go insane. He was incredible.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Look at those complete games pitched. Baseball was so different back then.

Also, Fernando was a pretty good hitter and Lasorda would use him as pinch hitter every now and then.

RIP Fernando. You are now in the place you looked up to every time you threw a pitch.

Rot in hell Chuck.

So much hatred and anger in that man and his followers. One of the very first posters I had to block on Twitter so that goes back years.
