When we were 4-5 we were not a tournament team.

Now we are.

Hope that clears it up. I know things like that can be confusing for you.
The thing to remember: no matter the record, it's not about the team, it's about Machina.

@ Kansas St worries me... but even if we drop that 1... 1st place will still be on the line when we play Houston... and since we only play Houston once... winner would own the tie breaker
Would be huge to get first place, would guarantee us a birth in the NIT since I was assured many times we would not make the NCAA
See what I mean. Now it's all about me.

Agree that it was an oddly called game and that Tech was annoying. In particular their propensity to hit a 3 every time the Cats were about to put them away.

The story will be about the Cats flipping the rebounding totals from the prior game but for me it was Awaka and Veesaar combining for 29 points compared to their 8 in Lubbock and the balanced scoring from Arizona (ADO aside).

Stephen’s 8 seconds of play was also odd. In what is becoming a bit of a recurring theme — Bryant had a hard time staying on the floor due to foul trouble. Also agree that Arizona at times played unfocused, or, at least had a bunch of soft TOs, especially from Lewis (tell me you dont cringe every time he dribbles the ball in to the paint).

This one honestly just felt like business as usual to me which is something that shocks me after the start to the season.

Saw a tweet about the most difficult remaining schedules in the B12 and Arizona’s was the 2nd most difficult (to CU). What was interesting to me was that each of the 6 or so schools with the most difficult remaining schedules was a newbie.

Couple that with the 2 teams at the top of the conference standings also being newbies, Houston having won the conference last season, and the B12’s relatively poor NCAAT performance of late (especially last season); and one take I have as of today is that the conference has been overrated.

Which likely was part of Arizona being picked to finish 5th. Coming off of a slew of Pac conference/tournament and multiteam event titles and consecutive 1 - 2 - 2 seeds.

Losses from teams ahead of us in the AP Poll this week:

19 UConn
18 Maryland
16 Kansas
15 Missouri
14 Kentucky
13 Texas Tech
11 Marquette
8 Iowa State

I could see us slot in around 11th or 12th this week. All of a sudden 6 losses isn’t terrible.

All I know is the games are ultra competitive and fun to watch compared to the last 15-20 seasons of the PAC where you might get a couple of games in conference that would rise to that level each year.

And I think Arizona has always been a program that gets up for big games and tough opponents so for me this is a match made in heaven.

I like this coach. At the end he handles Bruce similarly to Tommy. Also, our players should give a listen to his description of our D, because a respectful opponent who isn't making excuses for his own team will likely tell you the truth about yourself.

In the game thread someone compared McCasland to Hurley (just because of his demeanor in the moment I think) but he couldn’t be more different than Bobby Boy. Tons of respect for TTU and their coach. Not looking forward to seeing them in KC.

BYU has a player born in 1998. Religious mission, military service, JC years don't count now, and so on, so it is possible.

Glad the team is playing better teams in conference but absolutely no good content out there

What is the joke? Besides you thinking Beasley was still at KSU?

That the PAC-12 had multiple podcasts that were good and Big 12 has none?

Wishing there was a cool and good podcast about the Big 12 is a joke to you?

Double edged sword.

I firmly believe daily podcasts are a huge cancer to fanbases and teams but you want constant content

I think Luke and Scheer mean well but they end up doing far more harm than good at the end of the day

Well one thing for sure is that I will now go find some Big XII podcasts to compare. Frankly, I don’t remember being wowed by any PAC 12 ones

There was one I liked but now he is doing B1G stuff so he must have been aligned with those schools that went that direction.

Yes that was one of the good ones. They were the Scheers of UCLA and USC but did an amazing job talking all PAC12

Two other really good ones as well back in the real pac12 days

tbf to ECC, his comment was 100% spot-on during the game. it was a huge hurley-level mental lapse by mccasland to even give the refs a chance to T him up. in the moment, i think many of us thought, "wow, this is a gift" - iirc, it happened right before the last media timeout and we were up by only 4 or 5 points. the technical foul swung another 4pts our way in an already tight game. about a week ago, mccasland even said - maybe sarcastically, idk - that he'd be more careful after he and toppin got double-teched and tossed during the houston game.

So at the time I thought it was weak sauce by the refs. He wasn’t at all out of line.

Then Merkin pointed out that he had come out on the court. Which I think he did. So the tech was warranted.

But then someone else pointed out that he was out of timeouts at the time and may have figured that getting T’d up at least would stop the clock and give them a reset even if it did result in two points, which I’m not so sure about since the game was still pretty close and they did have tons of time on the clock.

McCasland admitted to making mistakes in the second half. Not sure if that would include the tech or burning through his timeouts before the under-4 break. I thought he fought for his team. And he fought with them. Sometimes you come up short. He earned my respect last night, and not just because he and Tommy are friends and he said nice things about us. His team is fucking TOUGH. He had them counterpunching us all night. What a game.

No Merkin. In the 70's it was called a lid cost $10 and was an once. I also know how my grams in a oz. but not from buying marij. So we are talking a little less that 1/4 oz. My question remains how did they find it? dog? maybe scanner picked up something that they wanted to check out.

But if any team is up for the challenge, it’s this one.
That's what I love so much about this team. It's the sheer grittiness they play with and the willingness even eagerness to play in physical, grind-it-out games with tight scores. Bradley is my favorite player for that reason; but lately KJ and Caleb right there with him.

At BYU they got to that confident aggressive place in the 2H.

But last night it was there all game long. What a monster of a team Tommy has going here!

TT coach is being mentioned for the Indiana job also. Hope they keep him. Article said Indiana had huge NIL money so recruiting should not be an issue with the right coach.

I used to buy a quarter pound of sansemilla for $160, and sell three ozs for $60 each.

That was grad school and early professional career economy...

But, in the article I read, Texas Tech is one of only five schools that spends more on basketball than Indiana...

West Texas oil money should keep him at Tech. There is a reason their football portal class was top 20 this year

Lid is an ounce, and was $40 for Columbian Gold, $25 for Mexican. Homegrown ragweed was probably $10 an ounce.
Sounds about right. a $10 bag of "shake" would be over $30 today!

Was about 1 or 2% then, today weed is what even 25%!?

You could by a pound of Mexican for $70-80 drive it to Regis college in Denver and sell it for $40/oz. All the 3/2 beer you could drink on campus also. Then drive back the next day and pay rent and have money for food for a month.

Now that's when America was great! My southern Oregon buddy planted 50 patches a year planning to lose 75% of them. The $ he made, despite getting busted, was, well ..... $80k in 1979 seemed like all the money in the world.

80K back then was all the money in the world. What did a vet cost $10-11K?
