Can’t wait for your next batch of posts complaining that some people had issues with Caleb’s playing style. I’m sure they’ll be just as useful as all the others.
I don't have a People to kill list. I just really think you have no idea the criticism he has faced throughout his career or any real compassion for someone that at times was unfairly criticized or personally attacked. How many times have you seen EVERY teammate felt compelled to address this issue? Why do you think they do that? Do you think that maybe they have seen the criticism or worse much closer than you? Do you think they are closer to how hard someone works, how committed to the team and teammates? Compassion when they recognize an injustice? Of course you don't.

You have changed and you are now the "get off my lawn guy" that was a good neighbor but something happened. Or as you would say maybe I'm projecting. LOL. Hope you find peace in your criticism of others and that it helps you in someway.

My own "unacceptable thoughts" are confined to the current duly elected administration. That is all I have room for.

Does anyone know how likely it is Caleb will get a chance with an NBA team? I don't follow draft stuff at all.

Caleb will certainly get a "chance", but won't be a first round draft choice, and won't be guaranteed contract.

Even if undrafted, he'll get signed on to a team, but would have to make the cut...

Maybe a late second rounder. More likely he’ll get a free agent invite to a camp and might get a G-League or two-way contract.

Honestly, he would dominate in Europe or Asia, but he has to chase his dream. I hope he proves himself to be an NBA-level talent. Definitely pulling for him.

I think his tournament performance might have got him a late 2nd round flyer. The big issue is that scouts have seen that before and know he is not consistent, so I am not sure how much of a bump he will get from it.

If you look at the Duke game there were many shots he made that he absolutely would have missed when his confidence was shot earlier in the year.

If Caleb could keep the mindset of a competitive dog all the time I think he could carve out a role in the NBA. Just seems that unless he is playing for something important he can't maintain that mindset consistently.

Even if undrafted, he'll get a look - sometimes, a free agent contract can work better than a 2nd round pick, because the player has some choice between a couple of teams for a pre-season contract...

I don't have too. I can just read your posts and the definition comes to life. Not a dime store psychoanalysis just a simple observation that obviously hit a spot. Maybe you have heard it before from someone close to you.

You still have no idea why teammates have felt compelled to defend Caleb do you? That is what I thought.

Hope you and especially those around you have happiness and peace.

Fun fact for you. Gil in his first three years in the league made more than LeBron. Reason being 1st round draft selections are under a formula for the length of their contract. Gil only had a 2 year agreement since he was 2nd round and then got to the magical 2nd contract a year before Lebron. Now that does not cover endorsements. The real reason folks what to go pro before they are fully ready is the second contract which is a tremendous amount of money for even moderate/good players.

Yeah that rumor was pretty well known when he left UNC.

I never bought into it much, I attributed it more to the fact that him and RJ were basically the same type of player fighting for one spot, so he left.

The point was that he wasn't really a bad teammate. But he might have been labeled that way because of a girl dispute. And people tend to pick sides when a dispute like that comes up.

Visited a cousin of mine from NC last week who is a big UNC fan. He asked me how we liked the Caleb Love experience!

In his eyes (and most of UNC fanbase) Caleb is loved for his dismantling of Duke at Cameron in Coach K's last game as well as knocking them out of the NCAA tournament in K's last dance.

He definitely made his mark here as well - wish him the best going forward!

That is a very interesting question.

How does the NCAA enforce any rules without contracts?

How many years you can play. When you can transfer. Who can pay you. And for what. What you can do with your NIL? Roster and scholie limits? Do you have to go to class? How much can a team practice per day or week?

I think I understand why the NCAA doesnt want contracts but I dont understand how they run their business without them.

On Love, when players play like shit they get criticized. Especially if their team loses. Been that way since the dawn of time. When they play well the opposite happens. Especially if their team wins.

Love did a lot of both things at Arizona who won, and — relative to its historicals — lost, a lot of games.

Seems pretty simple.

Right. At one point I wondered if non-traditional students could now see a way to becoming players, and at what age would they not be accepted? Can a washed-up NBA rookie re-cycle back onto a college roster?

How long is it until we get a player (or institution) sue to allow a kid with no eligibility left to play? How iron clad is that 4 year rule? I mean if you are getting your PhD you could be enrolled there for like 10 years! What's to keep a Caleb Love or Hunter Dickinson from enrolling in grad school and the school suing the NCAA over its eligibility policy?

Not that I want to see it, but it just seems like it could possibly be a thing that happens, especially when kids are making life changing money in college to play sports. If you get 3 more years and 9 million more dollars and a PhD in 8 years, that's better than I was setting out of college. (Which isn't saying much)
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

U.P. Zona Fan wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 3:11 pm How long is it until we get a player (or institution) sue to allow a kid with no eligibility left to play? How iron clad is that 4 year rule? I mean if you are getting your PhD you could be enrolled there for like 10 years! What's to keep a Caleb Love or Hunter Dickinson from enrolling in grad school and the school suing the NCAA over its eligibility policy? The courts haven't been upholding the NCAA's policies lately.

Not that I want to see it, but it just seems like it could possibly be a thing that happens, especially when kids are making life changing money in college to play sports. If you get 3 more years and 9 million more dollars and a PhD in 8 years, that's better than I was setting out of college. (Which isn't saying much)
Oops, that was supposed to be an edit, not a quote.

Wasn't expecting it to be this soon!!!
Can we get Caleb back for next year????
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Yeah, I was joking. But, with all of the changes to college sports, why have term limits?

If I understand you you’re saying that there is currently 2 players without eligibility left in the portal. Which may mean that they are testing and if picked up by a program and denied another season by the NCAA will sue. With the way things have gone I guess they’d probably win too (not a lawyer disclaimer).

I think they're looking for some relief in the pending decision in the current case establishing the revenue-sharing....

The reason why college basketball players with no remaining eligibility are entering the NCAA transfer portal
By Kyle Boone

Apr 22, 2025 at 9:47 am ET

There have been more than 2,000 men's college basketball players enter the transfer portal each of the last two years amid a growing epidemic of player movement in the NIL era. But a new twist in the portal trend has emerged of late with the deadline to enter the portal strikes Tuesday night: players with no remaining eligibility throwing their name into the transfer market.

Yes, that's right: Players whose college eligibility has expired — some of whom have even played five seasons — are entering the transfer portal.

The moves come with the looming House vs. NCAA antitrust settlement decision looming as soon as this month that could change NCAA eligibility rules, and in theory may offer a new framework on the previous four-year eligibility clock that has long been in place. The case hangs over the sport as coaches and players await the ruling, which could have a significant impact on what teams and players do in the coming months and how rosters are constructed.

With so much uncertainty surrounding that case and how it may be ruled on, players seem to be portaling with no remaining eligibility on the hope of keeping flexibility open. Technically doing so is legal, though at the moment it amounts to no more than a waste of clerical work.

Love is 5th in the vertical jump and 2nd in the no-step vertical jump.
